Waters Senior Electronics Design Engineer in Wilmslow, United Kingdom

This is a great opportunity to come and join our state of the art facility at Wilmslow, which is at the heart of the worlds mass spectrometry (MS) development!

The Advanced MS Technologies group is a new group dedicated to delivering customer benefit in the research market segment through the rapid evaluation, development and deployment of innovative MS capabilities. As a Senior Electronics Design Engineer, your role is to support the development of critical products through the design and development of electronic components and assemblies within the group. The role will be working within a highly entrepreneurial, small team environment where multi-tasking and flexible thinking will be critical.

You'll play a key role in developing products which make a real impact to peoples lives whether its developing Covid Tests and vaccines; helping scientists detect cancer; ensuring food safety or helping scientists develop biodegradable plastics – our work Delivers Benefit!

Initially your role will be to aid in the rare opportunity of developing novel new technology for the company from the ground up. This will allow you to work with others to possibly define technology platforms that could last for decades and be foundational for future product engineering solutions.

As a Senior Electronics Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Interpreting the requirements of the development specification to produce all relevant electronics components and sub-assemblies in the design of quality products.

  • Deisgn, development and practical implementation of advanced electronics designs

  • Liaising with Global Research and other MS Groups in electronics design, programmable logic and microcontroller software for new MS technologies.

  • Generation of engineering documentation; ECRs and drawings.

  • Interacting with suppliers to improve and/or gain knowledge of manufacturing techniques & cost effective manufacture.

  • Gain familiarity with our MS product range and keep abreast of developments in electronic engineering to enable the department to initiate engineering developments to improve our product design.

  • Complying with all company policies and procedures and ensure work meets quality standards.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Degree in Electronics, Electronics Engineering or equivalent commercial experience.

  • Proven engineering experience to a high-standard of precision electrical assemblies.

  • Experience of working within a recognised quality system.

  • In-depth understanding and application of skills required to design mass spectrometers.

Experience in any of the following is desirable but not crucial:

  • High impedance, high sensitivity, high gain and medium/large bandwidth amplifier design.

  • Low noise precision circuitry design.

  • Low power, high voltage RF and DC design.

  • Embedded C software programming.

  • High level language programming experience i.e. Python.

  • Microcontroller architecture, including DMA functions.

  • Design for EMC.
