Exelon Principal IT Project Manager in WASHINGTON, District Of Columbia
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Lead and manage IT staff and resources on a very large project and associated programs. Provide oversight for planning and managing scope, schedule, and budget for defined deliverables in accordance with IT Project Management standards for projects and subprojects.
Ability to manage a very large multi-OpCo project budget, while leading team responsible for all financial aspects of EU wide projects. Additional team responsibilities include forecasting, variance reporting, PMO report preparation, and providing oversight to risk, issue, and action item activities.
Lead and manage all aspects of IT projects and associated product vendors and system integrators to deliver projects of high complexity. Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor project progress, and maintain proper oversight for issue resolution and escalation
Lead the overall test phase for the Exelon Utilities EMS project while working with our business partners, System Integrator and Product Vendor.
Interface with external and internal stakeholders in reporting on progress of all aspects within the project portfolio
Evaluate performance and provide coaching for IT personnel. Participate in career development and succession planning processes. Promote diversity and foster teamwork, collaboration, and a learning organization. Provide input on development and retention processes for IT employees.
Work with business partners on tracking business case benefits and/or lead the planning process for assessing or gaining approval of additional IT projects
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and at least 5 years of experience in area of technical specialty; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Some travel required within Exelon locations and product vendor location
Appropriate technical skills & Experience leading and managing technical personnel.
Strong knowledge of business practices and processes in Project Management and area of specialty.
Experience leading and managing IT projects or sub-teams and knowledge of IT project management.
Excellent communications skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of IT and business management and with vendors as well.
Experience managing large, complex budgets for functional area of responsibility.
