AT&T is the provider of FirstNet, the only nationwide, high-speed broadband communications platform dedicated to and purpose-built for America’s first responders and the extended public safety community. The FirstNet Program Management Office is responsible for contract compliance and programmatic oversight of AT&T’s performance on the FirstNet contract.

AT&T has an opening for a senior project manager providing contract compliance and oversight support of a major US Government contract.

Description of Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Role has oversight of a portfolio of projects. Responsible for setting direction, organizing, and overseeing Project Managers within the team and project leads in partner organizations to execute the work within their portfolios. This career step requires expert level experience. Responsible for end-to-end portfolio and program management throughout the life cycle of a project/program.

Manages a complex portfolio that contains multiple projects that require high levels of functional integration, risk management, and change management. Viewed internally as a project management expert and a contract expert. Accountable for training, mentoring, and development throughout the organization. Manages projects with complex business and technical challenges. Defines, implements, and consults on project and program management standards and processes for relevant teams or projects. Sought out to lead or provide advice on important projects. Interacts and negotiates directly with government contract representatives and other government officials.

The primary job function is management to ensure government compliance and corporate business objectives are met.

Required skills include:

  • Extensive Government contract project management experience and organizational skills.

  • Experience in the telecommunications industry, particularly wireless.

  • Ability to establish positive customer and internal team relationships.

  • Strong PM skills and be process oriented.

  • RAN Engineering/technical background is a plus, but not required.

  • This position is customer facing and this candidate will regularly interact with our Government customer.

  • Assignments and projects may change from time to time, so personnel must be flexible and willing to support the overall program organization and objectives on higher priority initiatives.

  • Effective communication skills are a must for this role. The candidate will interact with a wide variety of internal and external contacts at various levels of the organization.

  • Willingness and individual drive to learn new concepts, tools, procedures, and software to enhance overall team performance.

Required Qualifications: 10+ years of overall experience showing progressively increasing responsibilities. 8+ years in a Project management role, preferably supporting government, strongly preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to think strategically and tactically

  • Ability to excel in a matrixed organization

  • PMP certification
