Smartronix is seeking a Big Data Engineer who will directly support and work as a hands-on technical contributor within the Solution Delivery Organization and Clients. Ideal candidates would have working knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem, relational data stores, Data Integration techniques, XML, Python, Spark, Hive, SAS, R, emerging Big Data tools and technologies, Visualization tools in Big Data, and ETL techniques. Experience with Agile methodology for enabling new business capabilities.


  • Highly visible position interacting directly with executive-level clients

  • Work in lock step with project management to navigate complex customer landscapes

  • Ability to look across a variety of data sources to devise proven yet inventive ways of organizing, consolidating, and optimizing how the data is used and what it means

  • Collaborate as part of any project team - large or small

  • Take on any task, and capable of clearly communicating with their customer's, management and other key stakeholders in both technical and high-level terms

  • Proven ability to document, promote and present your work to other teams and to customers

  • Collaborate across internal practices and with other team members

  • Work within an organized and structured delivery-centric team

  • Translate customer requirements and needs into proven design patterns

Required Skills with 5+ Years Working Experience:

  • Able to work efficiently under UNIX/Linux environment

  • Experience working with Sqoop, Hive, Python, and Spark

  • Experience in building and enhancing data pipelines parsing and shredding XML and JSON

  • Experience with shell scripting, and SQL

  • Experience working with SQL (DB2, SQLServer, Sybase, Oracle) and No SQL databases (MongoDB)

  • Experience working in an Agile environment using Jira/Confluence tools

  • Knowledge of data, master data and metadata related standards, processes and technology

  • Experience working with multi-Terabyte data sets (structured, semi/unstructured data)

  • Knowledge of job scheduling and monitoring tools like Autosys and Oozie

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in Financial Services/Secondary Mortgage industry is a plus

  • Experience with Hadoop integration with MicroStrategy and SAS

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

  • Cloud experience working with AWS environment is a plus
