Job Description:

The position is for the GBR-K radar facility located at Kwajalein, Marshall Islands. As part of a small on-site team, you will play a key role in the day to day maintenance, operations and support of the GBR-K facility at the Reagan Test Site (RTS). Required Skills:

  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical principles and design.

  • Ability to effectively perform maintenance, repairs and replacement of complex mechanical systems, gear boxes, motors, pumps, belts, filters and other required equipment.

  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics.

  • Knowledge of standard mechanical/electrical functions of equipment including but not limited to pumps, motors, and structural components.

  • Understanding of the operation and maintenance of radar systems to include liquid cooling and electrical systems.

  • General computer literacy using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems.

  • Working knowledge of electrical switchgear and automatic switching systems

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for performing and documenting preventative and corrective maintenance for the GBR-K radar electro-mechanical systems and subsystems in accordance with the GBR Preventive Maintenance Plan.

  • Observe, test, and evaluate radar systems to diagnose and repair LRUs.

  • Perform maintenance, calibration, and testing of radar systems.

  • Participate in the design and implementation of improvement and modernization projects involving radar subsystems, mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Provide suggestions and inputs for potential equipment upgrades and repairs.

  • Ability to climb and work at moderate heights.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and status of maintenance, equipment, troubleshooting and repairs, consumables and recommended procurement of parts as required.

  • Work with minimal supervision.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Desired Skills:

  • DoD test range system O&M experience.

  • Maintain a US state electrician license or equivalent.

  • Working knowledge of basic phased array radar operation and maintenance.

  • Experience in the handling and safeguarding of classified national security information.

  • Experience supporting test and integration efforts of phased-array radar systems, as well as documenting such actions in support of the same.

  • Experience working with cooling equipment operation and maintenance.

  • Experience using VAX and UNIX OS

    Additional Eligibility Requirements:

  • Physical ability to move equipment and materials as required

  • Certification as a climber or the ability to obtain this certification.

  • Willingness and physical ability to work at moderate heights.

  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.

  • Valid U.S. passport

  • Possess and maintain a DoD security clearance

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Engineering with 4 years of related experience OR an Associate’s degree and 8 years of related experience OR a High School Diploma and 12 years of related experience.

  • As vaccine requirements in both the U.S. and overseas continue to evolve, there may be future country, customer, or other mandates requiring employees to be vaccinated. Therefore, it is possible that in the future this position may require that the successful candidate be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. Since vaccine availability varies around the world, vaccine brands/origins also vary by country, and there is no guarantee of eligibility to receive the vaccine in the host country once deployed, it is recommended that the successful candidate get vaccinated prior to deployment.
