Position Summary:

The Tray Runner assists patients with room service when appropriate and delivers meal trays to assigned patients.

Qualifications:

Education: High school or equivalent or currently enrolled in High School or GED progam.

Essential Functions:

• Deliver patient meals and nourishments that meet patient and customer expectations, department standards and

  regulatory requirements.

• Deliver and retrieves meal trays within the designated time frame. Distributes patient meals trays; verifies accuracy at

point of service. Check parameters for patient verification. Assists the patient with opening containers, adjusting tray

stand and removing lids as needed.

• Communicates information about wrong or missing items to the kitchen.

• Documents meal and fluid consumption for designated patients.

• Responds promptly to telephone pages. Maintains patient confidentiality during telephone communications and other

discussions.

• Completes daily job assignments within the time parameters for the designated meal service.

• Delivers patient nourishments. Prepares and delivers floor stock for distribution to units according to established par

levels on floor and department guidelines. Accurately fills out and completes floor stock sheets. Documents

temperatures of freezers and refrigerators on a daily basis to assure proper operation.

• Follows all isolation precautions when entering room identified as isolation.
