Stevenson University Assistant Director, SUO Communications in Stevenson, Maryland

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director, SUO Recruitment, the Assistant Director, SUO Communications is responsible for managing digital and written communications for Stevenson University Online. The Assistant Director is responsible for developing, managing, and evaluating external and internal communications for SUO enrollment strategies. The Assistant Director will manage digital communications with prospective and current adult students, manage internal communication workflow, and collaborates with the Office of Marketing & Digital Communications to assure cohesive branding strategies and provide SUO web content updates.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field plus three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability:

Excellent writing, editing, and proof-reading skills

Extensive knowledge of current digital, social media, and recruitment communication strategies

Ability to adapt to emerging communication technologies and techniques

Ability to communicate effectively.

Creative thinker with excellent writing, editing, and project management skills

Working knowledge of both digital and print communication strategies

Ability to maintain confidentiality of information

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Ability to travel between campuses as needed.

Essential Functions:

Implement and execute integrated communications plans for recruiting adult undergraduate and advanced degree students. These multi-channel communication plans consist of digital/social media strategies, email marketing, and traditional print publications.

Manage internal SUO communications.

Write template and initial copy for emails, print publications, and letters with editing, design, and strategic support as needed from the Office of Marketing & Digital Communications.

Draft and manage communications to prospects, accepted, and continuing students.

Process and coordinate outgoing mailings, digital and print.

Communicate important and timely information to SUO students through e-mail, the SUO Portal, and other applications

Develop and implement communication plans to inform students on relevant student support services including online new student orientation course in Blackboard, onsite new student orientation events, and online and onsite student success workshops

Develop materials/signage content for Admissions events including Open Houses and symposia.

Provide updates to third-party college recruitment guides.

Recruit, hire, train, manage, and evaluate SUO Graduate Assistants

Coordinate with Program Coordinators and other SUO staff to manage projects and workflow for Graduate Assistants
