Housing Stabilization Specialist- Housing First

Hiring Bonus of $1000.00 to external candidates

We are seeking a Housing Stablilization Specialist to work with our Housing first team. This position provides Housing Stabilization and Housing Support to long-term homeless individuals in scattered-site housing programs in Hennepin, Ramsey, Dakota, and Anoka Counties. Supports will be provided through person centered engagement and support to transition to and sustain stable housing.

Hours: Monday- Friday business hours

Location: Twin Cities Metro

Hiring Range: $18.29 - $20.32 Depending on qualififcations

Required Qualifications:

  • GED or High School Diploma

  • Must be enrolled in a program in the pursuit of a bachelor or Associate of Arts degree in a health or human services field

  • Have one year of experience working within the target population served

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human services related field

    Main Job Duties:

  • Document interactions with clients into organization’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) and if applicable, program-specific documentation/record-keeping system, while providing clear and concise communication with client, staff and other applicable parties.

  • Work closely with the resident’s county, and other formal and informal support systems, providing culturally relevant services to individuals from this community experiencing homelessness

  • Develop a Housing Focused Person-Centered Plan for Housing Stabilization eligibility

  • Visit clients in their home as well as the community monthly to check progress, provide support and monitor mental health functioning and medication effectiveness

  • Schedule and conduct meetings with participants to review their budget and work on longer-term stabilization goals which address employment/income, money management strategies,

  • Refer clients to appropriate community resources and assist them in applying for and maintaining public assistance such as MA, SNAP, Housing Supports

  • Cultivate relationships with landlords willing to provide housing for participants and assist with administration of rental assistance

  • An ability to juggle multiple deadlines & projects along with a penchant for creatively solving problems and spotting inefficiencies

  • Partner with administrative staff to maintain an accurate monthly budget

  • Educate clients in budgeting skills to reach their financial goals

  • Provide support and skill building with clients to budget self-sufficiently
