Summary

The Fleet Maintenance Advisor is responsible for the coordination of maintenance and service needs of ATS fleet equipment (tractors and trailers) by providing emergency assistance and scheduling routine maintenance to ensure the fleet is in good working condition.

Education and Experience

  • Two year AAS Degree in medium/heavy truck diesel program; or 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the industry.

  • Understanding of the transportation industry with working knowledge of diesel maintenance and repair principles is preferred.

  • Basic understanding of planned and unplanned maintenance and repair practices.

  • Understanding of labor and warranty policies is preferred.

  • Ability to negotiate cost skillfully in challenging situations with both internal and external customers.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills; able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Able to gather and analyze information and develop alternative solutions.

  • Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook. Able to learn company specific programs.

  • Excellent communication skills (written, listening and verbal).

  • Willing and able to travel occasionally, including overnight travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming calls from ATS drivers related to breakdown and preventative maintenance needs. Schedule appointments as needed (internal and external).

  • Partner with outside vendors to schedule necessary repair appointments.

  • Partner with Operations and Maintenance personnel to minimize truck and trailer downtime.

  • Request and follow up on outstanding invoicing with vendors and close out work orders.

  • Provide assistance and guidance to Operations departments on complicated repairs.

  • Provide superior customer service to internal and external customers, including ATS drivers.

  • Provide direction to the maintenance staff on necessary repairs.

  • Required to work weekends on a rotating shift.

  • Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours, and infrequent travel may be required.
