Maintenance Supervisor (2101552) – Savannah, GA
Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a professional like you to lead a multiple skilled flexible work team to ensure safe, permit compliant, efficient, and effective operations on a twenty-four hour/day continuously operated facility.
In this role, you will provide leadership, first-line supervision, technical assistance, and training to a staff of industrial mechanical technicians and related maintenance personnel. You will conduct daily scheduling, application of standards and address production priorities with site maintenance and contractor staff. You will be directing day-to-day activities of maintenance resources to complete planned and emergency work that impacts the continuous operations at the site.
Your goal is to minimize costs and production downtime with the proper use of craft manpower, materials, and contract services. You will prioritize manpower required for construction, major maintenance, and routine maintenance projects to properly keep production running. You will conduct daily scheduling meetings with all interested parties to balance daily requirements for planned work, and emergency work. Additionally, you will work with the Maintenance Planner to ensure planned work is effective and improvements made as required. You will also be responsible for the development of key working relationships with Production, Maintenance, E&I, and Engineering to successfully drive initiatives to completion.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your superior planning, organization, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Although not required, prior supervisory experience, skilled trades experience, a basic understanding of welding, and Precision Maintenance is desirable.
This position requires off hours, weekend duty and shift work on an as needed basis. You may also be called at home to provide advice and information as required to support the needs of the plant, as you will be responsible for emergency call-in decision making (Off Hours) and provide status updates to the Maintenance & Production Leaders.
Formula for Success
Contributing your high work standard & accountability, initiative, and excellent judgment, you will lead a maintenance team of BASF techs and embedded contractors, ensure adherence to safe and environmentally correct work practices, a proactive approach to teamwork, continuous improvement and cost reduction during routine and outage maintenance activities.
Demonstrating your strong ability to lead and manage change, you will manage the performance and development of personnel through on-going feedback, coaching, audits, counseling, conflict resolution and observations. You will supervise and provide technical assistance for the daily activities of maintenance mechanics.
As a role model, you will train, develop, and provide technical assistance to a diverse workforce to continue to improve their skills and knowledge.
Utilizing your proficiency in maintenance transactions in SAP, you will maintain accurate information in SAP as related to maintenance activities and equipment information.
Your unwavering commitment to safety will be evident as you will be accountable for safety goals and safety performance by active participation and leadership in solving safety issues, coordinating safety and housekeeping programs, PSSR and MOC activities.
Leading by example with your excellent communications skills (both verbal and written), you will maintain and encourage collaborative resolutions and communications of work issues among employees, departments, and various work groups.
Working well as a team player, you will use your ability to assist with troubleshooting efforts and direct maintenance resources to successfully repair and maintain site equipment.
Working “hands-on”, you will be responsible for visiting the job site and acting as the person to remove obstacles before the job begins. Additionally, you will ensure proper permitting has been completed prior to work.
Successfully engaging across the site, you will meet formally with Operations to discuss current job status, next day's schedule, and priorities at daily scheduling meetings. You will also conduct safety toolbox meetings with production staff and coordinate Maintenance activities with Production, Maintenance Planners, and other personnel as appropriate.
Leveraging your education and work experience in maintenance, you will partner with key stakeholders to develop goals for staff and execution teams which support department objectives. You will provide coaching and direction to ensure that the team successfully meets targets and track team performance for success (KPIs / Metrics).
Demonstrating your broad based, hands on knowledge and experience with various types of mechanical systems, you will perform first line troubleshooting, repair consultation, and support for crafts. You will also participate in or lead Root Cause Analyses.
