Responsibilities

About This Position

In keeping with the Marian Medical Center health care philosophy the Diet Aide is responsible for assembling patient trays according to tray slip and diet.

Assembles labels and delivers patient snacks and nourishment. Runs required computer reports and production tallies. Stocks work station with food and non-food supplies. Answers telephone records and processes all patient information in a timely manner following established procedures. Notifies Supervisor immediately when patient or nursing complaints are received. Responsible for census and tray counts. Distributes and collects patient satisfaction surveys. Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of diet office supplies. Accurately maintains patient records in Gerimenu. Modifies therapeutic diets and adjusts preferences within diet prescriptions. Assists as directed to facilitate the flow of work in the operations of kitchen procedures and food and supply distribution. Follows directions for the safe and sanitary use of cleaning agents. Maintains proper care maintenance and sanitation of work areas equipment and supplies. Alerts supervisor to problems or needs concerning equipment food supply sanitation and safety. Detects and reports spoiled or unattractive food or supplies. Maintains established department policies procedures objectives for quality assurance safety and infection control.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be able to set daily priorities work independently and as a team member.

  • Must possess good patient/people relation skills; able to take instructions comprehend and follow through.

  • Must be able to perform basic computer skills.

  • Must be able to learn and comprehend basic nutritional information.

  • Must be able to read and write; and comprehend and follow written and oral instructions in English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior food service experience.
