Element Materials Technology Senior Engineer, OTA in San Jose, California


Element has an opportunity for a Senior Engineer, OTA , to join our growing team. You will apply electrical engineering concepts for testing and evaluation of electronic and wireless RF devices for compliance with industry and carrier OTA and Wi-Fi standards. You will assume additional departmental tasks delegated by Management. Works on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects. Collaborate, using sound judgment to determine adaptations in methods for routine aspects of assignments. Trains, develops and communicates with staff on a regular basis.


  • Continued development of broad knowledge and skills of OTA testing and wireless knowledge

  • Continued evaluation, selection, and application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects

  • Apply advanced knowledge of principles and practices for OTA

  • Maintain organization of assigned projects (electronic status, physical HW organization, charging organization, general cleanliness of the lab area)

  • Understands when and how to reach out for support and follow the instructions and guidance of management support

  • Work on multiple projects in parallel with tight deadlines and maintain defined deadlines

  • OTA Testing for wireless devices to CTIA/Industry and Carrier test plan requirements

  • Generate and review laboratory test Generate daily internal reports

  • Contribute to new test plans and develop new ways to streamline testing

  • Keep abreast of any changes to test plans and schedules that impact our testing requirements (current and future), while contributing to overall team project testing evolution

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, etc. or similar discipline

  • 3-6 years experience testing or developing testing methods in the areas of OTA, RF, WiFi, and LBS/E911

  • Must have a working knowledge of Test Equipment (OTA Test Equipment, R&S CWM500, Spirent E2010, LBS and WiFi testers, QXDM and PST tools)

  • Ability to quickly comprehend training received for RF technology, certification testing, and RF/OTA testing methods

  • Flexible and adaptable to work long hours and weekends, as needed

  • Able to occasionaly travle between laboratory (San Jose, CA and Columbia, MD) locations, as needed

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
