Cisco Director, Cross-Industry and Innovation in RTP, North Carolina

What You'll Do

The Director, Cross Industry & Innovation is responsible for leading cross-industry initiatives including Smart Buildings, Sustainability, Supply Chain and driving these offers via individual industry teams. This role will also manage the process for possible support of additional industries or cross-industry topics and the strategy which will enable our customers to fully adopt Cisco’s horizontal platforms to meet their business needs. The Director executes by leveraging their peer Industry Directors and teams, the broader Growth Marketing organization, and Sales. This is a global role hence must have a global understanding of geo differences and roles and be able to work cross-functionally regardless of borders. Background in Industry is a plus.

Who You Are

In this role, you will need a deep understanding of how industry use cases take Cisco’s horizontal technology platforms and translate them to business value with our customer, sales, partner and services ecosystems. You will have sufficient industry knowledge to identify the roles that each group plays to drive the total Cisco value proposition. You must be able to structure and influence the execution of go to market strategies globally through the Cisco partner organizations and Cisco Customer Experience organization. An understanding of Cisco’s routes to market and partner programs is a plus. This role requires a unique skillset of being able to look across multiple industries for common trends, and then be able to go deep to wrap up offers to address those trends.

Who You Will Work With

The primary stakeholders for this role are the Industry Solutions Group Industry Directors, Growth Marketing Geo leadership, and Sales Leadership. The Industry Directors are responsible for the overall Cisco industry strategy hence the Innovation and Cross-Industry Director executes that strategy through the ecosystem.

This role will require business acumen, up to the CEO level, with partner companies as well as the ability to understand and influence senior Cisco leaders in across the business groups and entities to implement the full life cycle of the industry solution; it is expected that such influence is accomplished through developing the necessary business proposition for the relevant stakeholders. You will have the ability to assess technical issues and understand how these issues can be brokered with Cisco product groups, or Business Entities (BE), as needed to enhance the value proposition to customers and partners.

In addition to the key stakeholders above, the Director Cross-Industry and Innovation must be able to work cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, and Finance. In all cases the output must be programmatic, replicable, and scalable to the broad global sales force and to partners. This approach requires close coordination with Industry Solutions Group program management and business value teams.

Roles & Responsibilities:

· Setting the global industry strategy and go-to-market for the Sustainability, Smart Buildings, and Supply Chain messaging and solutions

· Managing a structure innovation process to identify net-new industries or cross-industry solutions to keep Cisco at the forefront of markets while balancing resources

· Pipeline growth in product and services for the covered industries

· Industry specific Demand Gen and account-based marketing

· Providing industry lens on Cisco’s customer priorities and offers

· Leadership of cross-functional teams comprising senior sales and technology business units

· Metric, measure and adjust tactics to impact Cisco’s business in Industry

· Understanding, developing, and coaching the careers of various levels of talent

· Direction and voice for Cisco globally to our customers and the market for covered industries

· Driving thought leadership and Cisco preference with our customers

The ideal candidate will have/must be:

· 10+ years’ experience in some combination of solution management, messaging/marketing related to the covered cross-industry topics with a demonstrated record of driving business value through technology

· 5-10 years senior management experience, ideal candidate should possess both sales/marketing leadership and cross functional/general management experience

· 8+ years in management roles selling solutions to senior executives at named accounts to both IT and Lines of Business buyer centers

· 4+ years recent direct people management experience, building teams with top performance in player/coach role - must be able to "do the work" and lead the work.

· Strong operational mindset - must be able to execute

· Demonstrated track record of managing significant revenue responsibility and/or profit/loss center and overachieving targets to meet stretch goals

· Business Development and strategy experience required

· Demonstrated ability to provide thought leadership, think strategically, and effectively communicate vision (both written and verbal) and influence cross-functionally

· Adept at balancing intense short-term pressures with overall long-term goals

· Strong executive presence, polish, and political savvy

· Strong leadership skills in coaching, enabling, and developing a sales organization

· Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to persuade -- using simple communications that convey complex concepts in compelling, concise, and creative ways

· Demonstrated ability to build and lead change in a matrix-managed team culture

· Must have strong relationship building abilities and be a team-player

· Demonstrated track record of simplifying processes and/or technology solutions to translate into sellable motions

· Strong leadership abilities in teaching and enabling a sales organization on how to take complex technology and sell it in a more simplified, holistic way - based on customer/industry requirements

Utilizing a consultative style, s/he will be experienced in teaching and developing their teams, to identify and define client needs and innovative customer outcomes.

The successful candidate will possess an entrepreneurial, risk-taking flair and will possess a brand of confidence, which allows for delegation to empower his/her team. The candidate must be able to balance both short term goals with a longer-term vision for how they will continue to grow Industries and deliver the Cisco value proposition over the next several years. They should have innovative tools for creating a learning culture within the global sales organization and have proven teaming skills with peers to continue to evolve the best operating practices at Cisco. They must possess the highest level of integrity and be able to inspire trust and confidence in our employees, partners and customers.

Finally, this executive must have a level of business maturity, flexibility to change, and the instincts to adapt to a high-energy, dynamic environment characterized by high growth expectations and a collaborative culture.
