Gallagher Payroll Manager in Rolling Meadows, Illinois

Position Summary:

This role’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the organization has a managed and cost effective America’s payroll function through use of the efficient utilization of systems and processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs and delivers America’s payroll solutions in line with the company’s HR and business strategies

  • Manages the end-to-end full cycle payroll process to ensure compliance with payroll regulations

  • Partners with business units/divisions at a country level to ensure payroll meets the business needs, develops relationships with local/regional payroll teams and outsourced vendors

  • Accountable for month end processes including payroll, tax, benefit, and pension related remittances and reconciliations

  • Responsible for ensuring all internal audit processes and procedures are in place to support payroll and data integrity

  • Understand the full payroll processes within the America’s

  • Maintain current knowledge of payroll and applicable legislation to ensure compliance

  • Develops and maintains a matrix / summary of countries on Oracle payroll and outsourced payrolls and documents key payroll dates, year end activities, tax events etc.

  • Partners with the Corporate Rewards function on delivery of key America’s annual global compensation and benefits events

  • Partners with Corporate HR Operations, Global Payroll Manager, Technical Payroll teams, HRIS and global HR governance groups to facilitate and manage the project of upgrade and integration of all America’s legacy and non-integrated payroll systems

  • Partners with the Global Payroll Manager on America’s specific payroll related projects

  • Creates (for new legal entities), maintains and implements payroll policies, standards and procedures in a consistent and efficient manner

  • Partners with global payroll partners in the defining and implementing a model of global payroll best practices

  • Analyzes external America’s payroll trends

  • Represent Payroll in all M&A activity

  • Assist in year-end internal audits

  • Acts as a functional expert for America’s from plan design perspective

  • Works with legal and tax experts to ensure America’s payroll set up, delivery and reporting payroll data is in compliance with local legislation/regulations/rules, local/regional data protection laws and tax laws

  • Accountable for managing any regional third party payroll provider relationships

  • Provides support with budget planning for international compensation-related HR expenses

  • Provides support to Corp Compensation with reporting needs and reconciliations

  • Oversee (where appropriate) the time and attendance processing activities

  • Responsible for managing a team of payroll professionals in multiple locations


  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years related experience or High School diploma and 10 years' experience in a high volume payroll environment.

  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of current payroll legislation and statutory requirements.

  • Subject matter expert, knowledge of global payroll, including best practice, current trends, technologies, products and legislative proceedings

  • Must have prior experience of working within a global corporate payroll function

  • Able to manage in a matrix environment


  • Oracle Cloud payroll experience
