The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Vertical Lift Division is seeking an Experienced Structures Analysis Engineer (Level 3) to support the Future Long Range Assault Aircraft program. Our team is focused on designing the next generation FLRAA (Future Long Range Assault Aircraft) for the US Army. Our team provides a wide range of support on programs across the enterprise, primary the Army’s AH-6, AH-64, CH-47, MH-47, the Air Force’s CV-22, MH-139, and Marines/Navy’s MV-22, CMV-22. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a contribution in the design and development of the airframe structure and associated components as well as the drive system including gear, bearings, shafts and housings. This position is located in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania. Along with these programs the Ridley Park site supports a large portfolio of products including other Vertical Lift Programs, Commercial Aircraft, Fixed Wing Fighters, Satellites, Space Launch Systems, and many others.

Position Overview:

The Experienced Structures Analysis Engineer will be a part of a high-performing team that are immersed in high development projects. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of aircraft and sub-system structural designs. This position will support either the air vehicle or drive system organizations for vertical lift platforms. As an Experienced Structural Analysis Engineer, you will collaborate with leaders in throughout the organization to pave the way in creating a well-integrated and optimized design.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Develops, integrates and documents structural requirements to establish the system design.

  • Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.

  • Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.

  • Develops test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

  • Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.

  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.

  • Works under general direction.

Security Clearances:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):

  • Ability to obtain US Security clearance (post-start)

  • Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Applied Mechanics, Structural, and Civil Engineering

  • 3 years of experience performing structural analysis

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis Software (Patran/Nastran, ABAQUS, Stresscheck, Hyperworks, etc.) to perform structural analysis on aircraft

  • Experience with Boeing analysis tools CAESAR, Common Structures Workstation, Lifeworks

  • Experience with aircraft structural analysis

  • Experience with composites

  • Experience with transmissions (gearboxes, shafting, bearings)

  • Experience with fatigue analysis or durability and damage tolerance analysis

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
