Raytheon Technologies Principal Systems Engineer, Engineering Tool Solutions in Richardson, Texas

The Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RI&S) Engineering Tooling Team is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer. The Systems Engineering will be responsible for developing, implementing Engineering Tool related solutions aligned to the RI&S Common Engineering Digital Engineering strategy, vision, and goals. The ideal candidate will join the RI&S Engineering Tooling team and collaborate with the RI&S Common Engineering teams to implement engineering tooling capabilities and practices as part of the standard Digital Engineering Environment. The role may participate in new business activities such as proposals and architecture/designs as needed in support of solution deployment within RI&S. The Systems Engineer will also participate in deployment of capabilities often working directly with program engineers and leadership. This role may also periodically lead, or mentor team members, execute trade studies, develop prototypes, create metrics, and prepare and present technical Information to an audience.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop technical solutions to meet RI&S business level and Product Line tooling needs for Systems Engineering including interfaces with other disciplines

  • Identify gaps, develop, and validate solutions to enable Systems Engineering principles and best practices and mature existing solutions

  • Communicate solutions through demonstrations, training, and end user documentation

  • Collaborate with partner teams to coordinate and optimize solutions

  • Participate in Agile activities, such as Increment Planning, Sprint Demonstrations, and Daily Standup activities

    Clearance requirement: Active Secret Clearance

    Required Skills:

  • Experience developing and managing requirements using IBM Rational DOORS Classic 9.x

  • Experience developing and managing requirements using IBM Rational DOORS Next (DOORS Next Generation/DNG)

  • Experience with requirements change control and configuration management

  • Strong Microsoft Office Tool Suite proficiency

  • Ability to work independently, without much supervision, and ensure project goals are met

  • Ability to prepare and present status, plans, risks, and technical concepts to management

  • Ability to work effectively in a virtual teaming environment

  • Strong trouble shooting and data analysis skills

  • 8 years of relevant experience

    Desired Skills:

  • Experience using the Raytheon Technologies Common DOORS Toolkit (CDT)

  • Experience coding and debugging in DXL

  • Experience working in CITRIX environment

  • Experience migrating DOORS Classic Projects to DNG

  • Experience building and working Pivot Tables

  • Technical leadership and mentoring experience

  • Webpage development experience using MS SharePoint

  • Experience working in Agile development environment

  • Experience working with IBM Rational Publishing Engine (RPE) and RPE Document Builder

  • Familiarity with system modeling tools

  • Familiarity with Java Scripting for IBM Rational DNG

  • Familiarity with full IBM Rational Environmental Lifecycle Management (ELM) Tool Suite

  • Familiarity with digital twin / digital thread concepts

  • Familiarity with IBM Rational Jazz Reporting Server (JRS) report generation

    Education Requirements:

    A Bachelors degree in Science, Technology Engineering or Math (STEM)
