Senior Content Developer, Azure SQL documentation

Do you enjoy learning new technologies and then helping others learn them too? Do you love working with data and data tools? Do you have experience creating data solutions in Azure SQL and SQL Server? If yes, then come join our experienced team of content developers. We work the Microsoft “SQLs”: SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines, and Azure Synapse Analytics. In this role, you create, manage, and optimize content portfolios that help customers adopt and use these industry-standard data products and services!

We want to hire a content developer who is organized and thrives in a collaborative and multitasking environment. You are customer-obsessed and eager to show impact. You set priorities using data. You use SEO practices to drive traffic to your documentation.


What you will do:

In this role, you’ll work with product PMs, customers, engineers, support, and marketing to create compelling documentation for Azure SQL Database on Microsoft Docs ( ).

  • Plan: Develop, prioritize, and execute customer-focused, data-informed content plans.

  • Test: You will be hands on with the technologies in our portfolio—installing, configuring, and building.

  • Create: Author and publish high-impact content addressing the need of the data and developer audience. Create strategic content such as videos, infographics, and Microsoft Lean Modules.

  • Collaborate: Work with engineering, support, marketing, and customers to understand customer goals and what they need to succeed. You’ll talk directly to customers!

  • Analyze: Use data to report on your impact, prioritize your work, and adjust to future plans.

  • Iterate : Refine the content based on customer feedback, testing, analytics, and the evolution of your technology portfolio.

Who you are:

  • You are a self-starter who works well independently and with others.

  • You have strong written and verbal English skills.

  • You are skilled at organizing and prioritizing your work in an agile environment.

  • You are familiar and appreciate making data-driven decisions.

  • You have no fear of learning new tools and technologies.



  • You have 5 years of experience writing for a technical audience.

  • You have 2-5 years industry experience with Azure SQL in a DBA or developer role.

  • You have 2+ years experience designing a SQL Server database and write Transact-SQL queries to access the data.

  • You have 2+ years experience accessing data through code (Scripting, Python, C#, or other languages).


  • Experience with Azure DevOps Boards.

  • Experience working in an agile development environment.

  • Experience working in GitHub and markdown.

  • Experience leading projects with multiple stakeholders and driving them to completion.

  • Experience working with modern data tools, such as Azure Data Studio, SSMS, and VS Code.
