The Cloud Platform Services (CPS) team, part of the UniOps function, has a vision to accelerate cloud adoption to drive a future fit model for innovation and growth across Unilever.
This position will directly manage Cloud Architects and Engineers in the Cloud Platform Services Team. The role is responsible for working closely with the Cloud Services Product Managers to design, develop and build the re - usable or shared service components of the Cloud Platform.
This key position also communicates and evangelizes the architecture and Engineering (principles, policies, standards, and patterns) to service owners , business groups, and customers and governs adherence to criti cal architectural principles, sometimes known as the "guardrails."
Additional responsibilities include working with Business Platforms, PEM teams and collaborating with best practice bodies such as the Cloud Centre of Excellence, to understand where new technology and innovation might solve upcoming business needs.
The Architecture and Engineering Lead is experienced in cloud - based tech nology , with a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, and ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. Extensive knowledge of cloud maintenance, experience managing staff, and advanced industry kno wledge is key to keeping us on the cutting edge.
You will be expected to work extremely closely with the Product Lead and Product Managers to define product strategy, roadmaps and services as part of the CPS portfolio.
The Architecture and Engineering lead will work collaboratively with Product Lead and Delivery Lead to forecast resources and skills needed for upcoming engagements. Actively provides feedback from the discipline about ongoing engagements with a view to improving products and offerings.
You will be responsible and accountable for defining and driving the technical strategy in line with CPS Product strategy, roadmaps and goals, ensuring appropriate SME technical skills are relevant for Product Groups.
You will be expected to Lead and manage a team of architects and engineers as part of a matrix model, assigning appropriate technical resources and expertise to Product Groups for delivery.
The Architecture and Engineering Lead will need to ensure sufficient technical capacity is available to support Product Groups in line with their approver, product strategies and roadmaps.
You will need to be at the forefront of supporting product groups by providing technical expertise (GCP or Azure) from your team during each stage of the product lifecycle.
As a key member of the CPS leadership team, you will be expected to evangelise the CPS strategy and new ways of working, becoming a role model on embracing positive change.
You will be critical in championing new ways of working and new technologies and preach and evangelise these concepts and methodologies across CPS and the wider Unilever organisation.
You will be expected to talk competently and enthusiastically at events, town halls and briefings about cloud and its capabilities and how it is driving Unilever as a business forward.
You will need to drive the evolution of cloud infrastructure, processes, products, and services strategy, through collaboration with Cloud Centre of Excellence and other governance bodies.
Responsible for ensuring approved CPS architectural patterns are applied where appropriate.
Responsible for the product architecture throughout the lifecycle of the service.
Along with EA, influence stakeholders and ensure compliance with architectural guidelines.
Developing a collaborative community spirit within their discipline.

Cloud Architecture concepts on GCP and Azure.
Designing, building, and operating global IT infrastructures.

Cloud-native applications, cloud application design patterns and practices.
Cloud Operations, including data assurance, monitoring, alerting and notifications.
Demonstrated problem analysis and resolution skills.
Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture Frameworks.
Proven experience in managing technical teams (architects or engineers) following a matrix model or deep technical experience.
Experience as cloud architect.
Experience in working with a product centric model and providing technical resources to support product strategy and roadmaps.
Keeping ahead with cloud trends and aligning appropriate cloud-native solutions to a product strategy.
Ability to independently create proposals, presentations and manage financial budgets.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Experience in communicating across many crossfunctional areas, including external partners and customers.
Strong understanding of GCP and Azure cloud platforms eco-systems.
Practical experience in applying Agile and DevOps methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
GCP - Foundational Google Digital Leader.
Azure - AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals.
Project or Resource Management qualification.
- Experience of using Project Management and product management tool sets.
GCP - Professional Cloud Architect.
Azure – AZ504 Cloud Architect.
