The Maintenance Electrical Technician will provide the technical expertise to assist the Work Coordinators and Scheduler in performing electrical work and to participate in the installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex electrical systems and equipment.
This job provides the technical expertise to calibrate, repair, evaluate, and apply test equipment for the determination of the service condition and acceptability of a wide variety of electrical equipment. The job requires a "hands on" technician applying expertise daily in those areas to insure the safe and reliable operation of the site process plants to maximize production as well as to maintain the lowest long term cost of ownership of the site facilities. The person in this role will also be required to mentor the contract electricians in the assigned Maintenance area when necessary.
Responsibilities / Duties
Diagnoses and corrects equipment problems.
Calibrates and aligns equipment.
Completes preventative maintenance activities.
Checks sizing of components and parts.
Specifies, requisitions, and installs parts and equipment.
Coordinates maintenance spare parts.
Assists in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling maintenance through planner, work coordinator and operations input.
Sets up and calibrates, tests, measures and repairs all types of controls and instruments with pneumatic, electrical, and electronic variables.
Repairs, maintains and installs equipment and machinery which is used in the process.
Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions and documents failure analysis.
Collects equipment operation and history data to facilitate reliability improvements.
Works within established Maintenance Work Processes and helps resolve issues that surface as a result of planning and scheduling work.
Drive company vehicle throughout the campus to respond to maintain needs.
The successful candidate will function within a team of Maintenance Electrical Technologist within the department assigned.

Day shift -- alternative work schedule is available (4/10's.)
Available for weekend call and holdover overtime is an expectation of the job.
Available for call-ins, plant turnarounds and some overtime.
Valid U.S. driver's license.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:
Lift, push, and pull.
Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
Work in tight and closed in spaces.
Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator, earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
High School diploma or equivalent and one of the following are required.
Associate’s degree or higher in Electrical Technology/Electronic from an accredited educational institute. In lieu of a degree Dow will consider those with 4 or more years of relevant military experience.
Technical diploma in Electrical Technology/Electronic from an accredited educational institute.
3 or more years of experience in an industrial electrician role.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Ability to demonstrate the use of test equipment such as Multimeter, Continuity Tester, Megohmmeter (Megger), and Voltage tester such as a Fluke T5-1000 or Tegam.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret a SEOLD -- Safe Electrical One Line Diagram and identify and understand auxiliary circuits associated with each piece of equipment.
Working knowledge of the operation and construction of low and medium voltage equipment including motor starters, circuit breakers, control circuits, induction/synchronous DC motors, motor drives, UPS systems and other power conversion devices.
Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
Willing to work within a Maintenance Work Process and help resolve issues that surface as a result of planning and scheduling of work.
Be proficient in computers to perform job tasks.
