UPMC Research Specialist | Geriatric Neuropsychology Research Program (GNRP) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The Geriatric Neuropsychology Research Program (GNRP), located within the Department of Psychiatry and the Western Psychiatric Hospital (WPH), is directed by Meryl A. Butters, Ph.D. The GNRP is located in a suite within WPH Oxford Building with testing offices in WPH as well. The Research Specialists are well-trained neuropsychological examiners. The GNRP maintains a full library of neuropsychological tasks including traditional paper and pencil and newer computerized tests. The GNRP typically serves from 15-20 funded research studies, including those on which Dr. Butters serves as PI and all studies affiliated with the Late Life Depression Prevention, as well as ancillary studies being conducted throughout the UPMC. The examiners administer neuropsychological assessments to geriatric participants in a number of settings, including the GNRP, hospitals in the UPMC system, PCP offices, and participants’ homes. Staff of the GNRP regularly train neuropsychological examiners who work on studies both within the University of Pittsburgh and elsewhere. GNRP staff members monitor both their own performance and that of other examiners working in separate studies through regular inter-rater reliability assessment.
This position is grant funded.
Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s) including recruitment, scheduling appointments, obtaining written consent forms, collecting data by conducting phone or face to face interviews for research project(s).
Collaborate with senior research personnel regarding recruitment, data collection, outcomes of interviews, reports according to the needs of the study.
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology or related research field.
Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
Experience with the geriatric population preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
