Job Summary:

The Certified Nurse Assistant performs patient related care tasks. Assists patients with activities of daily living and provides direct patient care under supervision of Nurse. These duties may include but are not limited to: Obtaining and recording patient vital signs. Monitoring and recording daily intake and output. Assists Physician/Nurse as requested. Communicates patient needs and observed/reported changes in patient condition to supervising Nurse or Physician. Documents all interactions where appropriate. Floats to all clinical areas of the hospital.

Job Standards:

  • Assists with patient admission, discharge and transfer

  • Collects laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol, maintaining hospital standard of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens

  • Assists the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requested

  • Retrieves necessary equipment and supplie

  • Monitors and records patient vital signs, weight, positioning, ADL's, I&O, activity and blood glucose readings per RN instructions, hospital protocols, and standards of care and notifies RN/physician of abnormalities

  • Documents clinically relevant findings in the patient's record according to hospital protocols

6 months recent acute care experience required


HS Diploma

Licensure :

AZ CNA License, LNA, Basic EMT, or Completion of first block of nursing program

BLS- AHA only
