Temple University Research Trial Manager in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 20003048DescriptionThe Water, Health and Applied Water Microbiology Lab (WHAM Lab) housed in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the College of Public Health at Temple University is seeking a trial manager to coordinate the execution of a complex environmental randomized controlled trial.Essential Functions:Candidates should be highly motivated with an interest in gaining hands on experience in recruitment and execution of a large-scale NIH-funded randomized control trial of 900 children seeking to reduce gastrointestinal illnesses associated with the consumption of untreated private well water in rural Pennsylvania. The applicant will be responsible for coordinating the execution of the trial including but not limited to the following activities: recruitment and enrollment of eligible households, data management, coordinating the collection of stool, saliva and water samples of household participants,follow-up with households, coordination of research team meetings, supervision of undergraduate and graduate students that help with the execution of the trial. The trial manager will work largely independently under the supervision of Dr. Murphy and alongside a research associate to execute the above outlined tasks and the overall execution of the trial.There will be opportunities for publishing and grant writing if desired. The applicant will engage with an advisory panel of experts from across the US including the EPA, the CDC, the USDA/USGS and academic leaders in environmental epidemiology and waterborne diseases.Required Education and Experience:Masters degree in public health, epidemiology, biological sciences, engineering, environment health or related field (or a combination of 2 years of relevant work/ research experience and an undergraduate degree could be considered), and a minimum of 1 year of experience running or coordinating large-scale or complex research projects.Required Skills and Abilities:*Ability to effectively work with very little supervision.*Detail oriented and the ability to quickly adapt to changes.*Excellent oral and written communication skills;*Experience with quantitative data analysis;*Driver's license*Have excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task various roles and responsibilities simultaneously.Preferred Qualifications*At least 2 years running clinical trials and enrolling participants.*1 year in of data management experience.*Experience with coordinating complex projects with various stakeholders.*Wet lab experience.Candidates who can effectively work with very little supervision, have great attention to detail, are able to adapt to an ever-changing environment and have experience coordinating complex projects with various stakeholders or participants will be preferred.The expected start date is January 1, 2021 and is expected to continue for a duration of up to 4 years subject to grant funding.Please send a letter including:(1) a statement of research interests and how the project aligns with past research experiences, (2) curriculum vita, and (3) contact information for three professional references.
