Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Vertical Lift division is seeking Experienced Equipment & Tool Engineers in Ridley Park, PA to support the H-47 Chinook and V-22 Osprey programs
An Equipment & Tool Engineer designs, analyzes and modifies aerospace manufacturing equipment and tooling that meet stakeholder requirements. Researches, develops, evaluates and integrates robotics, automation, and new technologies and processes related to equipment and tooling for applicability to programs and products. Teams with cross-functional subject matter experts to develop and review bids and procurement specifications. Estimates, plans, manages and executes the acquisition and modification of equipment and tooling. Develops and implements testing and acceptance to validate performance. Creates and maintains related documentation for equipment and tooling, develops preventative maintenance plans and trains personnel as needed. Develops and implements interim solutions for damaged and unsafe equipment and tooling. Investigates engineering changes and controls equipment and tooling configuration in accordance with company procedures. Develops and recommends equipment reliability improvements through the application of reliability engineering tooling. Restriction: In locations where SPEEA representation applies, this job family will be covered by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Evaluates program and project requirements, develops complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for the Production System.
Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design and rate estimates, identifies robotics, automation or technology recommendations and system integration for equipment and tooling.
Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.
Validates contractual performance milestones, maintains configuration control, conducts reviews, prepares plans for productions readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares.
Conducts training for Production and Maintenance personnel. Develops and implements work-arounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software and documentation.
Performs studies and make recommendation for disposition of assets.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
3+ years of experience in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Tool Engineering.
1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
Experience with LEAN principles
Experience using Microsoft Office products
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience using CAD/CAM software.
Ability to collaborate with both the engineering workforce and mechanics on the factory floor.
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
