The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear & Maintenance Components, e.g., Steel Products (Undercarriage and GET) and Specialty Products (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Caterpillar uses quantitative techniques to solve problems for internal and external Caterpillar customers.

The principal responsibility of Analytics Project Leader is to move from being an individual contributor on analytic project teams to leading the planning and execution for such teams. He or she will form and lead teams of Data Scientists, Data Analysts, and Subject Matter Experts. As the project leader the incumbent will be responsible for managing the project charter, team and stakeholder communications, and the overall project plan and budget.

The position will include the continuation of transforming all service parts reporting to the component organization teams and leadership. Reporting has moved into Power BI and continuation in evaluating the data transformation of the reporting from SAS to Snowflake or SQL to improve the ETL process. The project leader will be managing projects for the component business groups (EVC, S&OP, Engineering, commercial, and business resources) on data and visualization needs. R&D in Analytics opportunities currently doing R&D is predictive analytics, Industry 4.0, and Web Framing to provide our customers new analytics options.

The Analytics Project Leader will:

  • Use knowledge of analytical methods and business acumen to guide cross-functional teams in the chartering and execution of analytics projects.

  • Manage 3-4 projects concurrently.

  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Caterpillar Inc.; its products and services; its internal systems, processes, and procedures; and Service Parts Supply Chain and Parts Excellence to meet or exceed customer expectations.

  • Serve as the principal communicator with clients and internal stakeholders regarding project status.

  • Significant challenges of this position are working with people: enhancing the team’s creativity; facilitating the team’s cooperation; clearly communicating the requirements and tasks, while gaining input from the team on refinement of same; translating both verbal and non-verbal information from the customer, management and team members.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 7+ years of professional experience utilizing quantitative analysis is

  • Must demonstrate strengths in leadership, customer focus, planning and organizing, initiative, interpersonal skills, and communications.

  • PC SAS – ability to decipher existing code and produce new code, including SQL

  • Knowledge of Service Parts business processes & systems (areas such as):

  • Inventory Management – DRP

  • Procurement – purchase orders, supplier relationship

  • Customer Services – PIC, Dealer Relationship,

  • Material Availability – Expediting, Supplier Relationship

  • Understanding of current Service Parts data sources and contacts with ability to convert to new sources as they transition into Service Parts Snowflake environments

Top candidates will also have:

  • Master’s degree, in statistics, economics, mathematics, or a similar field

  • Must demonstrate strengths in leadership, customer focus, planning and organizing, initiative, interpersonal skills, and communications.

  • Snowflake – basic knowledge of structure and data extraction

  • Experience with Power BI

  • Assurance of Supply data

  • Knowledge of BIC data

This position does not offer relocation.

This position requires 10% or less travel.
