Army National Guard Units AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (Title 32) in Peoria, Illinois

Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (Title 32), Position Description Number D1063000 and is part of the IL AASF 3, National Guard. Responsibilities As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (Title 32), WG-8852-12, you will act as the Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency in training of supported aviation unit personnel. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Manage, monitor, and/or perform overall maintenance, servicing, inspections, and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft. Perform operational tests of aircraft systems and components. Provide technical guidance and assistance to flight crews regarding observed discrepancies, experience in-flight characteristics, and system malfunctions. Perform preflight, thru flight, and post-flight inspections and scheduled or unscheduled maintenance. Perform work in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weather and night operations. Diagnose and solve malfunctions of aircraft systems and components by utilizing a wide variety of complex, computerized and/or non-computerized diagnostic test equipment. Serve as a technical authority to identify and advise on requirements for airframe, mechanical, electrical/environmental, avionics, engine, and pneudraulic repairs on assigned aircraft. Launch, recover, park, and service aircraft. Oversee and perform installation of equipment for special missions. Observe and inspect performance of other workers to insure compliance with applicable technical publications, directives, and local policy. Perform in-process and final inspection of other's work on assigned aircraft and components. Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization, and support exercises. Control and perform work assignments based upon priorities, workload, availability of parts, facilities, material, and personnel. Provide training in techniques of repair and maintenance of aircraft and related equipment. Work with, coordinate, and oversee the work of lower graded aircraft mechanics and certify their work. Participate in mission preparation and recovery operations. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement. Qualifications Military Grades: Enlisted Only - Not to exceed the rank of E-8 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which includes the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications; and experience in the use of hand tools and test equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-12 Level- Must possess specialized experience which includesat least 18 months experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification; experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow; must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
