Pfizer Senior Associate in Pearl River, New York

The incumbent will provide business operations support for BSL-3/ABSL-3 laboratory-based groups within Vaccine R&D located in Pearl River. They will be a key point of contact for BSL-3/ABSL-3 laboratory operations and interface with the Global Workforce Solutions staff as necessary to support research colleagues. The incumbent will also provide organizational and scheduling support.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a key point-of-contact for BSL-3/ABSL-3 lab-based groups coordinating with Global Workforce Solutions (GWS) staff to schedule/follow-up/support colleagues for building/maintenance issues, including the day-to-day operations of BSL-3/ABSL-3 laboratory space.

  • Coordinate efficient use of lab space and common lab supplies space between supported groups.

  • Coordinate with procurement support within VRD to expedite, follow-up and ease processes and time investment for laboratory colleagues.

  • Serve as point person for assessment of all new equipment to enter the high containment facilities as well as decontamination and removal of equipment within the biofacilities equipment.

  • Coordinate procurement of PPE needs of staff.

  • Coordinate BSL-3/ABSL-3 training needs to ensure compliance with government regulatory agencies to maintain operational readiness.

  • Support departmental Safety representatives and Research Safety Committee organization.

  • Work efficiently as part of a team in a matrixed environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in relevant field (Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology), with at least 4 years relevant laboratory experience, preferably with working knowledge and experience in a high containment laboratory setting.

  • Experience working with site support organizations such as EHS, Operations preferred, and demonstrated ability to bridge laboratory needs and internal and external services to meet those needs.

  • Demonstrated experience with laboratory safety preferred with an understanding of common challenges faced in high containment research environments.

  • The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and must be motivated, flexible, highly organized and willing to learn new skill sets.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Sitting, standing, walking, light lifting (< 25 lbs.), ability to travel, drive.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Occasional travel may be required. Adherence to safe work practices and procedures required.
