MSC Industrial Supply Co. Product Owner - Crib Management in North Carolina


Crib Management Solutions are an essential component of our Managed Inventory portfolio. Through frequent voice-of-customer engagements and partnership with the Customer Productivity Team, the Product Owner, Crib Management will define our service offering and lead the development of capabilities to create a world-class customer experience. Financial success is measured by increase in Customer acquisition due to a differentiated service offering while operational success includes measurable improvement of installation SLA’s and customer satisfaction


  • Owns the end-to-end definition of our service offering and operational outcomes from pre-sales to post-implementation support

  • Builds micro-roadmaps that align with MSC’s strategic objectives by bringing in key stakeholder inputs including voice of customer, SME feedback, competitive landscape, market research and data-driven insights.

  • Gathers internal and external customer needs, identify critical opportunities, and prioritize new capabilities and enhancements that are technically and financially viable and bring quantifiable value with speed.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define scope, budget and Go-to-Market strategies that ensure superior execution and maximize impact and growth.

  • Creates and refines artifacts such as use cases, user stories, and process flows to communicate features and associated value proposition to both the engineering teams and all stakeholders.

  • Manages and drives the short-term feature delivery schedule – through leading cross functional efforts from design, development and testing to communication, training and collateral development for launch, as well as ongoing support and measurement.

  • Identifies and raises issues that may compromise success of feature delivery and user adoption.

  • Tightly aligns with key associate stakeholders and SME’s on product roadmap expansion and enhancement prioritization. Must make sure that operations can maintain world-class service for expanding portfolio

  • Encourages and promotes operating in a continuous improvement environment

  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.

  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

JOB TITLE: Product Owner, Crib Management


q BA/BS in Computer Science, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Product Management or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience required. Master’s degree is preferred

q Minimum of four years of experience relevant product management required

q Product Management and development, working together with business, and technology teams to design, develop, enhance existing models and customer experience in an Agile Framework

q Experience working with a domain or POD based model across the customer experience journey, including manufacturing procure-to-pay process, Performance Visualization, Actionable Insights, etc.

q Recent domain experience with Crib Management, VMI, Vending, ERP P2P

q Analytical experience working with predictive models, creating user segmentation, extracting insights that drive business decisions

q Technical knowledge of API’s, 3rd Party Systems, Legacy Systems (SAP) and integration with modern day SaaS solutions.

q Experience leading Agile design preferred

q Creating strategy across product portfolio, roadmaps, and managing its respective budget

q Six Sigma and Lean experience preferred


q Ability to work successfully with diverse groups of stakeholders

q Ability to influence others without directly span of control

q Strong analytical and quantitative skills. Ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases

q Ability to interact with Engineers and Designers on technical topics to identify best possible decisions.

q Analytical skills to elicit and analyze requirements and define scope objectives using spreadsheet modeling, pivot tables, Power BI, Tableau, etc.

q Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, able to present to large groups including senior management and customers

q Track record of complex and creative problem-solving

q Excellent organizational skills including the ability to establish prioritization

q Experience in data analytics and creating data-driven insights is required

q Organized and creative problem solver – ability to analyze complex data and user requests into simple design approved solutions

q Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp new technology, and complex workflows

q Able to navigate organization and build key alliances to effectively bring product to market

q Must be proficient in MS Office, Project Management and collaboration Tools
