Job SummaryThe Manufacturing Excellence Leader provides leadership and direction to accelerate the rate of continuous improvement across the manufacturing organization. This leadership position has responsibility for deploying strategy and execution of process improvement objectives across the function as aligned to key strategic goals. These objectives include implementation of the continuous improvement initiatives to drive business performance. This role will work closely with Manufacturing Sites, Global Supply Chain, Operations PMO, Regional and Functional Leadership and across functions to drive improvement efforts.The Global Operational Excellence Director is a passionate change agent focused on achieving measureable and sustainable results through the implementation of Lean, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement. This leadership position will develop and cascade a Continuous Improvement program to drive meaningful impact to the business through leading, managing and coaching the Global Supply Chain Operational Excellence team.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, coordinates, and drives continuous improvement utilizing the Avantor Business System, workflow maturity development and cell operating system as applicable to drive improvement and engage employees.

  • Leads, develops and manages the manufacturing site continuous improvement leaders to prioritize and deliver the continuous improvement projects, ensuring sustainability of the program.

  • In collaboration with site leaders and with Global Chain Operational Excellence, works to execute on operating system deliverables associated with Monthly Operations Reviews, and staff meetings.

  • Develops and coordinates the KPIs roll ups for the manufacturing group

  • Collaborates with senior and site leader to champion and select key initiatives and supporting projects that align with business/functional goals and strategies towards productivity improvements.

  • Responsible for deploying strategic operational improvement initiatives across the business/function.

  • Ensures project execution plans and business results are maintained and results are communicated/summarized monthly

  • Leads improvement initiatives and/or projects of significant size and scope

  • Supports mechanisms for knowledge sharing and best-practice knowledge transfer among continuous improvement practitioners

  • Implement continuous improvement program to align organization on critical performance indicators while simultaneously driving breakthrough objectives

  • Influence, lead, and coordinate cross-functional team of diverse stakeholders to deliver expected results on-time and on-budget

  • Coordinate, communicate and publicize continuous improvement activities and successes.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience in driving continuous improvement OR Master’s Degree and 8+ years of experience in driving continuous improvement

  • 5+ years of Program Management experience

  • 5+ years or working in a Manufacturing or Supply Chain environment

  • Green belt Certification


DESIRED/PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Black belt certification

  • Engineering degree

  • Diverse industry background Previous experience cascading a OpEx program and driving meaningful impact to the business

  • 7+ years Program Management experience

  • Proven track record of driving continuous improvement and delivering results

  • Solid coaching and mentoring competency

  • Able to influence change without direct authority

  • Ability to simply and clearly convey and communicate complex concepts

  • Problems solving and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels and across the organization

  • Strong understanding of all business processes

  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and project management skills
