The Summer Associate role is for candidates who are expected to graduate from law school with a Juris Doctor in 2022. We are not accepting any other candidate submissions for this position.

Position Overview and Qualifications

At Manatt, we welcome candidates with diverse and varied backgrounds and interests, particularly those who come from underserved and historically underrepresented backgrounds. You must be a second-year law student to be considered for our 2021 summer associate program. Preferably, you will:

Have outstanding academic credentials, and actively participate in law school activities such as moot court, law review or other activities that demonstrate leadership ability.
Have previous professional work experience, preferably in one of our core industry sectors.
Have strong written and verbal communication skills in a variety of settings.
Be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and be part of a team, collaborate with others, and be eager and curious to learn new topic areas quickly.
Have an entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to assume responsibility.

Summer Associate Program Overview

As a participant in our national Summer Associate Program (locations include Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Orange County, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.), you will:

Learn about our culture, different practices and clients, as well as receive formal skill development training.
Work on diverse legal projects for clients.
Have the opportunity to work with industry leaders and gain hands-on experience.
Receive a comprehensive overview of what it’s like to work as an associate at Manatt.
Network and build relationships with Manatt professionals across all offices.
