The Chief Operating Office (COO) is responsible for delivering a more consistent approach to business operations across Wells Fargo, strengthening the company’s risk and control infrastructure, and delivering effective and efficient enterprise services to employees and customers.

The COO group includes the head of Operations, who is jointly responsible for line of business operations with each of the five LOB CEOs. Operations functions include contact center operations, client servicing support, money movements within our businesses, lending operations, and other functions.

The COO group also includes a number of teams dedicated to strengthening Wells Fargo’s risk and control infrastructure. These include the Control Executive team; Regulatory and Policy Affairs; Enterprise Customer Excellence; Sales Practices Oversight and Management; and Strategic Execution and Operations.

The Chief Administrative Office, encompassing the Corporate Properties Group; Corporate Security; Enterprise Business Resiliency; Strategic Programs and Process Improvement; Enterprise Change Management; Supply Chain Management; and Data Management and Insights, delivers important services for our employees and customers.

The Enterprise Function Regulatory Relations team serves as the primary point of contact for all domestic and international regulatory engagements that involve the following 7 lines of business (LOB) at Wells Fargo: Finance, Technology, Human Resources, Legal, Public Affairs, Strategy Digital & Innovation and Diverse Segments, Representation & Inclusion groups for regulators and internal contacts. The team ensures an organized and cohesive approach to interacting with regulators ensuring transparency and consistency of communications, providing oversight and guidance on the quality of regulatory responses, and ensuring adherence to enterprise policy requirements.

The role will be broadly responsible for supporting senior members of the Enterprise Function Regulatory Relations team. This support is required for ongoing supervision meetings/activity, ad hoc requests/meetings and formal examinations. Activities include (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting in meeting coordination, including speaker preparation and oversight of material development

  • Capturing meeting notes, themes and ensuring action items have ownership and are delivered in a timely manner

  • Managing response development to any regulator questions

  • Producing any required reporting from the covered LOBs

  • Maintaining, compiling and providing historical engagement information/context as needed

  • Supporting other projects or initiatives as needed

  • Maintaining effective working relationships with internal stakeholders

  • Lead moderately complex regulatory engagements with focus on ensuring appropriate accountability and interaction with regulators

Successful candidates will be articulate and possess an ability to handle multiple high priority tasks at the same time; they will be impressive in their inter-personal effectiveness. Successful candidates will have the ability to understand and operate successfully in a complex, heavily matrixed corporate environment. The role requires a sense of urgency, passion for results, and personal accountability for achievement.

Preferred locations are Charlotte or New York; other Wells Fargo locations may be considered

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in risk management (includes regulatory relations, compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management); or 5+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in risk management

Desired Qualifications

  • 2+ years of client relationship management experience

  • 2+ years of reporting experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, with senior executive-level leaders

  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
