Job Description

Job Responsibility

  • Communicates with ED staff to facilitate patient movement and information flow

  • Enters patients into department computer system.

  • Facilitates care by notifying triage RN of potential life threatening situations.

  • Assists visitors with information and directions to family/significant other.

  • Transports non-acute patients to appropriate bed/location.

  • Assist patients with comfort measures (food, blankets, pillows, etc.) under the direction of the RN. Oversees volunteer care and comfort rounds.

  • Assist patients /visitors with telephone calls. Assist patients to the ED discharge desk.

  • Assist patients to/from transportation (private vehicle or taxicab).

  • Works with ancillary departments to expedite patient care testing, under the direction of the ED Physicians and Charge Nurses

  • Greets patients and visitors upon arrival to the Emergency Department

  • Performs related duties as required.

Job Qualification

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

  • Typing, 50 wpm, required.

  • Ability to walk, bend, push a gurney and wheelchair, required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (orally and in writing).

  • Bilingual (Spanish), preferred.

The salary range for this position is $23.32-$24.59/hour
