Hyatt Assistant Front Office Manager in NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana


The four diamond, luxury Hyatt Regency New Orleans (1,193-room and 200,000 sq. ft. of meeting space) is seeking a high energy, industry professional for a career activating opportunity as Assistant Front Office Manager.

The Assistant Front Office Manager is responsible for supporting all duties of the front desk operation, which includes staff training, inter-department communications, and staff scheduling. In addition to assisting in the operation of the Front Office operation and guest services personnel, this position will respond quickly to guest requests and/or complaints in a friendly manner and ensure that appropriate action is taken to guarantee guest satisfaction. This position reports to the Front Office Manager.

Duties include:

  • Customer Satisfaction (Guest Feedback, NPS, Medalia, etc).

  • Financial Performance (Up selling, Room Revenue).

  • Showing Initiative, Problem Solving, Staff Training, Team Leading.

  • Manage and motivate the Front Office team in order to provide a high standard of service for customers.

  • Welcome guests and fosters customer loyalty through his/her friendly manner.

  • Develop high quality relationships with guests throughout their stay.

  • Handles any guest complaints or contentious issues that cannot be settled directly by team members and provides a fast solution.

  • Oversee and supervises guest arrivals and departures with the front office agents

  • Provide high level of customer service and maintain a high profile in the day-to-day front office operations.

  • Review arrival list for all arrivals and VIPs to check room allocations, amenities and special requests.

  • Integrates and trains employees, providing support for skills development.

  • Ensures that all front desk employees are well presented (uniforms, personal hygiene etc), and punctual.

  • Ensure team members have current knowledge of hotel products, services, facilities, events, pricing and policies and knowledge of the local area and events.

  • Have a good knowledge of all systems and standard operating procedures of front office.

  • Ensures that group resumes is available and up-to-date.

  • Responsible for short and long term planning and the management of the hotel’s Front Office operations

  • Maintain guest room inventory

  • Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt Service Standards and Procedures

  • Perform all tasks of a Front Office Staff as needed to facilitate service

  • Ensure all operations and cash handling are done per policies and procedures

  • Maintain excellent communication with the housekeeping department

  • Create expectations, lead people, manage processes, and hold people accountable for the agreed upon activities and time tables

  • Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds

  • 4 years or more of progressive hotel Front Office experience

  • Service oriented style with professional presentations skills

  • Degree from accredited university required. Hotel/Hospitality degree is preferred

  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line

  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills

  • Previous experience with hotel operation systems (Opera, HotSOS, Rex, etc.)

  • Ability to work a flexible shift including nights, weekends, and holidays.
