Milwaukee Brewers Senior Manager - Security in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Summary This position will assist the Senior Director – Security with providing a safe and secure environment for all guests, tenants, employees, vendors, and contractors. In the absence of the Senior Director – Security, this position will assume that leadership role and its duties and responsibilities. Additionally, this position will provide management and oversight of back-of-house technologies that support the Security Department on both game days and non-game days, including Milwaukee Brewers Baseball games, 24-hour security and special events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage various systems, including the CCTV, and other applications (24/7, Liferaft, Access Control, walk-through metal detectors, FedCheck, Visitor Management, etc.)

  • Manage 24-hour building security hourly staff, including scheduling, day-to-day operations and serving as back-up support for shift coverage

  • Manage Command Center staff and operations, including scheduling, training, and day-to-day operations

  • Assist in the hiring and training of security game day staff

  • Oversee the security screening process and staff, including but not limited to setup and troubleshooting the metal detectors

  • Oversee and manage parking and event security staffs in the absence of the Sr. Director – Security.

  • Assist in the preparation of the security budget, vendor invoicing, and day-to-day tracking.

  • Assist with large scale Brewers Special Events (concerts, mini marathon, etc.) from an operations/security standpoint, including acting in the leadership role for select special events, working with promoters and event personnel, pre-event operational planning, etc.

  • Work with Security team to review camera footage of incidents both ongoing and by request

  • Oversee the credentialing process including designing, printing and distributing to all staff, contractors, and Vendor IDs. Conduct regular audits to ensure proper access, maintaining access control to secured doors within the ballpark.

  • Ensure the Organization is adhering to all precepts of the MLB BSOP (Best Stadium Operating Policies).

  • Assist the Sr. Director of Security with application of DHS Safety Act efforts; ensure ongoing compliance of DHS Safety Act and oversee its implementation

  • Assist the senior director of security with management and scheduling of field/LEO security officers and liaison with MPD as required.

  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises 12 part-time employees and 100-150 seasonal staff. Share supervision of department interns. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Ability to be available for a minimum of 70 home games and additional special events

  • Valid driver’s license in good standing

  • Superior customer service skills

  • Strong demonstrated work ethic

  • Ability to work in a team and multi-tasking environment

  • Strong Technical skills

  • Occasional travel may be required

  • Knowledge of ICS and NIMS or complete basic training courses by December 2022

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred but not required; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Law enforcement experience preferred.

Computer Skills

To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, which may include heat, cold and various forms of precipitation. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Game day responsibilities may be loud. May travel on occasion.

Work Hours

Regular business office hours are Monday-Friday 9 am - 5 pm, however duties may require additional hours for events occurring on weekends, evenings, some holidays and all game days.
