AT&T Professional System Engineer in Middletown, New Jersey

We are seeking an individual who inspires to be an accomplished Enterprise System Administrator with hands on server infrastructure experience supporting Contact Center solutions for AT&T’s largest and important enterprise clients.

To be a successful candidate, you will need to have a strong desire to be a system administrator and must have strong familiarity with server infrastructure, virtualization, and operating systems. Must have knowledge and hands-on experience with operating systems such as Windows Server 2012/2016, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5/6/7/8, Solaris, HP-UX, VMware vCenter,etc. Knowledge of HP Proliant servers, IBM Blade servers, Nimble SAN & NAS storage. Familiarity with how these devices are used in design and engineering of enterprise computer networks. In addition to knowledge of physical infrastructure, familiarity with Infrastructure-as-a-Service (AWS, Azure) and associated network and security services is a plus. A deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols is highly desired. Some of the tasks also require systems administration knowledge, including hands-on experience with Windows and Linux operating systems. If you have already started or even completed certification program (example Azure certification, Microsoft MSCE/MCP certification, Red Hat certification) will be an added bonus qualification.

Tasks may include architecture and design of enterprise contact center solutions based on Genesys or Cisco voice platforms, creating test plans, testing and certification, troubleshooting and maintenance of computer networks, hardware, software, and other related systems. The system administrator will also be work closely with other system engineers and AT&T services organizations in order to identify potential issues and fix existing problems.

System Administrator Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.

  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems

  • Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required.

  • Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures.

  • Replacing faulty network hardware components when required.

  • Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made.

  • Conferring with customers’ network users about solving existing system problems.

  • Operating master consoles to monitor the performance of networks and computer systems.

  • Coordinating computer network access and use.

  • Designing, configuring and testing networking software, computer hardware, and operating system software.

Requirements:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required

  • 3-5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience

  • System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus

  • Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent

  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols

  • Experience with scripting and automation tools

  • A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans

  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
