The Global HR Technology Team is a creative community brought together to enable VMware processes using engaging, collaborative, and leading-edge solutions that are simple, drive integrity and enhance digital people experiences.

As a member of the HR Technology organization, you will provide systems and process analysis and support for the employee life cycle with a focus on core HCM and Employee Development & Learning within Workday and third-party applications.

In collaboration with the HR Technology management team, you will partner with various cross-functional teams to help support and contribute to solutions that optimize processes, deliver value, and enhance user experience. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the support and evolution of our HR Systems and engage both locally and globally with our business and technical teams.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • Deliver technical solutions and technical consultation for prioritized projects that require deep knowledge and past experience in Workday configuration.

  • Deliver process solutions for prioritized projects using process improvement techniques, focusing on the user experience.

  • Develop an understanding of projects and enhancements that support and improve the digital people experience of our HCM systems, tools and processes.

  • Build partnerships with HR, Payroll and People Development team members and various Technology partners to implement optimal solutions in a time-managed and effective way.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Collaborate with HR, Payroll, People Development and Technology partners and key stakeholders across the organization to identify upcoming projects, understand scope, determine business requirements and discuss roadmap/timelines.

  • Lead HR Projects by consulting with stakeholders to gather requirements, design, build and test solutions, prepare configuration documentation, support UAT and implement in Production environment.

  • Design, configure and deploy system solutions in line with HR Technology methodologies and standards.

  • Deliver Workday configuration using deep knowledge and past experiences to enhance or build reports, business processes, security, custom objects, questionnaires, calculated fields and condition rules.

  • Engage with 3rd party vendors to capture technical/configuration requirements related to system configuration, reports, integrations and user interfaces.

  • Provide input on assessments for HR tools by attending discovery/RFP meetings, reviewing features and considering the optimal functionality required for our solutions.

  • Understand the interdependencies across people related programs and liaise with teams in these areas on system changes.

  • Work with the Production Support Team on deployment/launch ofprojects, process improvement and technical support activities.

  • Brainstorm creative ideas for projects, drafting process flow diagrams and envisioning the technology architecture.

  • Actively participate in Workday Community, Brainstorms, Design Partner Groups and Early Adopter Programs.

  • Lead/contribute to team meetings, project reviews, project updates and knowledge sharing.

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

The hiring managers for this role are Ellisha Shaffer, Director, HR Technology Core Services and Sarah Abraham, Sr. Manager, HR Technology Core Services - HCM Systems. Ellisha has worked for VMware for over 7 years in various roles within the HR Technology organization. Sarah has worked for VMware for 6+ years, starting as an individual contributor within HR Technology and leading the HCM Systems team as of Feb 2021.

Ellisha and Sarah's management philosophies are to enable and support their teams to do their best work through collaboration and creative thinking. Knowledge sharing is promoted and expected within and outside their organization and encourages individuals to act as mentors and mentees with each other.

Where is this role located?

This role is preferably based in the US or Costa Rica and can be either Flexible or Remote. For Flexible, there is the opportunity to work from the office some days during the week and other days from home. For Remote, you can work from home fully. In both cases for remote working, it is essential to have strong internet connectivity and limited distractions to perform successfully in this role. As we are members of a global team and support a global internal customer, it will be important to have a flexible and balanced approach for attending meetings and delivering work products.
