For this role we are looking for someone to lead our Sales Capability team to deliver a new digital Sales management experience for our customers when they buy from BT Global, and to provide our colleagues with capabilities across opportunity management, offer management, contract management, for example which enable them to focus their expertise on deliver standout customer engagement.

As a Senior Capability Owner in DigiCo, you will be responsible for meeting the objectives of the Sales Capability Squad:

  • Translate capability vision into strategic implementation roadmap for Sales capabilities

  • Drive the approach, scope, priorities, definition and specification of Sales capabilities

  • Define features and functionalities of Sales capabilities

  • Manage the delivery of the Sales capability feature backlog

  • Deliver on the measurable business outcomes linked to Sales capabilities

As a Senior Capability Owner, you will take on a leadership role within the Capability Team. You’ll provide guidance, enable and support direct reports, such as other Capability Owners, your matrixed Agile squad, of Functional Analysts and various other specialists, as well as the wider Capability team. You’ll champion DigiCo’s vision and mission, Agile and customer centric values and collaborative working practices.

You will work closely with senior and executive stakeholders in BT Global, as well as DigiCo’s Proposition and Agile delivery teams. Due to the strategic nature of these capabilities, your role will be responsible for the demand into delivery for a significant portion of Global’s portfolio investment, with high impact on several proposition areas.

You'll have the following responsibilities

  • Own Capability ‘Discovery’ & ‘Elaboration’ processes to identify capability enhancement opportunities, define capability features and target objective & key results (OKRs), maximising capability reuse

  • Lead your team of specialists and managers dedicated to and aligned with the Sales Capability Squad, including other Capability Owners, Functional Analysts, Process Designers, Solution Architects, Customer and User Experience Designers.

  • Represent your team, communicate and co-ordinate with other Capability Owners, DigiCo Senior Leadership teams and Executive and Senior stakeholders across BT to keep awareness of current state, risks, issues and dependencies in relation to Sales Capabilities

  • Define, own and continuously refine the roadmap of DigiCo’s Sales capabilities, in alignment with the portfolio and business strategy and investment priorities

  • Define, own and continuously refine priorities and feature level definition of Sales capability backlog, aligning priorities to the capability strategy and vision

  • Work with Technical Product Owners, Solution Architects and Business Analysts to define and manage feature backlog requirements and priorities

  • Work with Proposition Owners, Release Train Engineers and Scrum Masters to actively manage priorities and maximising value of investment in development

  • Work with Sales Operation, Planning and Transformation, CX, User Research and Training specialist to define organisational model principles, skills and training requirements necessary to realise process, procedure and CX enhancements.

You'll have the following skills & experience

  • Excellent leadership, communication and relationship building skills.

  • Time management, prioritisation for value

  • Problem solving and creative thinking aptitude.

  • Functional analysis skills to enable the capture and breakdown of well formed requirements and priorities.

  • Critical thinking skills to enable the articulation of requirements, trade-offs and priorities.

  • Stakeholder management: ability to manage and influence stakeholders with competing priorities

  • Comfortable working with distributed teams in a collaborative fashion

  • Ability to articulate and present roadmaps, progress, issues and risks to stakeholders.

Experience you would be expected to have

  • Experience of managing matrixed teams and direct reports

  • Experience of Agile methodologies and best practices. Working knowledge of Agile SAFe is desired

  • Experience as a Product Owner

  • Preferred experience with product management tools such as Jira, Confluence & Mural

  • Desired experience of Customer Experience, Service Design and user research best practices

  • Desired experience of facilitating Design Thinking workshops
