Aerotek R&D Mechanical Engineer in Louisville, Kentucky

The engineer will be primarily involved in producing concepts, designs, performance calculations, failure analysis and drawings.
Responsible for overseeing designers or engineering sub-contractors engaged in prototype design and development activities.
Testing prototypes and creating test reports.
Calculate application loads and stresses on parts and assemblies as well as calculate power requirements for moving equipment.
Design parts and select components (i.e.. electric motors, gearboxes, chains, belts, sprockets, etc.) as required for the application.
Be familiar with manufacturing operations and methods to incorporate best practices of ‘Design for Manufacturing’.
Create drawing and documentation packages, as well as simulation or oversight of simulation.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
(10+) years of machine or prototype design experience.
Machine controls experience is a plus.
Experienced using Inventor (or other) 3D modeling software.
Highly experienced in linear FEA is a plus.
