Microsoft Corporation Business Analytics Specialist, WCB Cross Solutions in Los Angeles, California
We are seeking an experienced Business Analytics Specialist with a proven track record of solving complex data analysis and delivering insight through innovative Artificial Intelligence (AI). You will be experienced at understanding key business questions for cross-solution scenarios, conducting opportunity analysis, identifying sales metrics & targets, building data-driven hypotheses, and running high-quality experiments to hit those targets. We will be looking to you to help evaluate the return of investments on new ideas, to assess if investments are meeting customer and business promises, to design and assess experiments, to measure growth and to derive insights that help identify the next wave of opportunities, problems to be solved, and subsequent best sales motions.
The Worldwide Commercial Business (WCB) Cross Solution organization i s a newly formed group within the Solutions organization. Our objective is to build world class cross-solution capabilities to serve our customers, both internally and externally. As a Business Analytics Specialist f or the Cross Solution business, you will specialize in owning and analyzing the business questions for the team. You will learn and excel in discovering patterns in the data that are harder to find but can lead to getting to our business objectives. Your analysis will show us what we’re doing right or wrong in our current methodology, what customer segment and strategies we should invest more in, and how to achieve and exceed our goals. You will closely partner with finance teams, Corporate Business Groups, field leaders, marketing, and product engineering teams to drive cross solutions selling business strategies, execution, and business & consumption growth with meaningful insights and data-driven recommendations.
Data mining: Identify patterns and relationships within big data from the vast repository of data resources with different data types such as transactional and analytical data. This includes having a keen sense of hypothesis creation and testing, pattern and anomaly detection, risk assessment and mitigation, KPIs adjustment and design, and uncertainty quantification to drive actionable insights from data exploration.
Data Modeling (AI): Implement end-to-end prescriptive analytics. It covers the data lifecycle to prepare data, train, monitor, and deploy predictive machine- and deep-learning-based solutions followed by recommending actionable insights.
Data storytelling: Communicate data-driven insights and interpret data model outputs through model-specific and agnostic techniques, often for a non-technical audience.
Business intuition: Connect with stakeholders to fully understand the problems they’re looking to solve.
Analytical & Critical thinking: Find analytical solutions to abstract business issues and apply objective analysis of facts before concluding.
Programming: Write computer programs and analyze large datasets to uncover answers to complex problems. Data scientists need to be comfortable writing code working in various scripting languages such as Java, C#, Python, SQL, Kusto, Spark, and version control systems such as Git.
Provide business intelligence and insights that help our teams create strategies that realize both the customers' digital transformation and our cross-solution business vision.
Apply statistical analysis techniques like hypothesis testing, segmentation, and modeling to analyze large datasets.
Identify and recommend growth drivers through deep analysis of data from multiple sources and understand opportunities for differentiation and competitive advantage.
Influence investment decisions by supporting the ongoing strategic planning and execution process.
Conduct opportunity analysis, hypothesis generation, and translation of business problems into data science projects to unlock new opportunities across the cross-solution ecosystem.
Experience developing data science solutions using AI methodologies and tools (e.g., classic machine learning methods, ensemble techniques, deep learning like neural networks and graph, convolutional networks, and the required dependencies such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch geometric).
Partner with teams efficiently and effectively to identify and explore opportunities to apply exploration, prediction, and prescription analysis.
Apply advanced analytical techniques (behavior segmentation, churn prediction, purchase propensity, recommendation engine, time-series analysis, Bayesian analytics, etc.) to drive customer value and business impact across the cross-solution business.
Experience with data engineering techniques to gather, analyze, and marshal large and complex structured and unstructured data and for analysis and AI pipeline automation.
Experience with model interpretation techniques (e.g., PDPs, ICE, LIME, SHAP)
Experience working with cross-functional teams and business groups defining data requirements and incorporating analytics into their processes, including through visualizations, user interfaces, and operational improvements.
Apply the data-driven approach in tying technology solutions to specific business outcomes by creating, analyzing, and adjusting KPIs.
Location/Travel: You may be based anywhere in the United States. You can expect limited global travel, 0 – 25%, contingent upon Covid-19 restrictions.
