About this role
Customers are the single most important part of our business, making it easier & simpler for them to switch between broadband suppliers will help customers to get the best value & highest quality service. Right now 40% of customers are put off from switching supplier because it’s considered too complex, to address this Ofcom are implementing an automated switching solution which will allow customers to change providers effortlessly.
At Openreach we’ll be pivotal in implementing a solution which all CPs can use to switch their customers between providers, your key role will be to work with industry to scope the solution and then deliver this within Openreach.
You’ll also play a key role mananging our new & existing copper products while helping our CPs move to the next generation of All-IP products.
This role will play a central part in working with Broadband providers, Ofcom & the OTA to deliver these market changing solutions.
You'll have the following responsibilities
Fully understand and be accountable for a key product area within the portfolio. Understand customer requirements for the product, the product value proposition, the product cost stack and pricing, the product contract and its obligations for Openreach and our customers, the relevant regulation for the product. Understand product revenue targets and service KPIs, and ongoing performance against those. Understand the operational processes and technology involved in delivering the product. Become the subject matter expert for product area. Lead the resolution of in-life product issues relating to the above areas as they arise.
Lead development teams through the key design, development, trial and launch phases of taking new products/features to market. This will include working across Openreach with representatives from service, operations, systems and networks, as well leading customer engagement activities. Ensure product developments deliver to expected time/cost/quality.
Commercially assess opportunities for new products and capabilities, looking at costs vs benefits, and making recommendations to develop or not. These opportunities could include formal industry requests (SORs), internally-generated ideas from within the CCP org or wider Openreach service and operations functions, or equipment vendors. In terms of scope they could include new connectivity products, new product features, sales enablement improvements, service experience improvements, cost reduction initiatvies, new technology introduction, and strategic-driven changes.
Create compelling business cases for recommended product developments, including detailed cost/benefit analysis. Ensure senior stakeholder support and buy-in, and ultimately secure required product development capex and resources.
Ensure the product value proposition is understood by customers and the account teams. Ensure clear, compelling and up-to-date product documentation is in place.
Manage product withdrawals. Establish rationale for product withdrawal, undertake commercial impact assessments, make recommendations, secure stakeholder support and lead customer/industry engagement.
You'll have the following skills & experience
Commercial and/or analysis skills, able to conduct cost/benefit assessments and/or requirements/solution analysis, and use this to make clear, evidence-based recommendations regarding potential product developments.
Problem solver – motivated to make things better. Dig into issues & opportunities as they arise, conduct root cause analysis, identify solutions, agree best approach to resolve or create additional benefits.
Strong communicator & influencer – both verbal and written. Able to clearly set out recommendations, and convince customers and stakeholders to gain support. Able to summarise succinctly yet dive into detail where required. Able to collaborate effectively and build enthusiasm and momentum across virtual teams.
Product, process or solution development experience, in either a requirements capture & management, solution architecture, or project management roles.
Experience creating business cases for change, including use of cost/benefit analysis to create convincing recommendations is highly advantageous. Ideally in a product management, commercial management, business analysis or consulting role.
Experience & working knowledge of at least 1 of the following areas:- Broadband, Fibre, All-IP, MPF, LLU, or PSTN.
Business analysis experience, including use of problem solving methodologies (such as lean, six sigma) to determine root causes and identify solutions is an advantage.
