Description

The State of Nebraska, Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Federal Aid Administrator II to support our Medicaid & Long-Term Care Division within the State Unit on Aging.

A successful candidate coordinates allocations of federal funds available to local units of government, insuring efficiency and compliance with federal laws and regulations in use of those funds, and supervises record maintenance of grants.

Examples of Work

The fiscal team within the State Unit on Aging oversees Older Americans Act formula grants for Title I-A, B, C, D, E and Title VII grants in addition seven new federal grants received as a result of the pandemic. This position works with two state funding categories for aging services in Nebraska. This position works on the Medicaid Administrative Claiming efforts, which are underway. The budget in these programs is approximately $35M (federal + state ) this year. This position is critical for continuity of current operations and area agency on aging services. This position also participates in the automation efforts of the intrastate funding formula for the State Unit on Aging formula grants and state awards to area agencies.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or other appropriate curriculum, plus two years of significantly related work experience, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to the above requirements. Experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

PREFERRED: Previous experience in grants management, business administration, public administration, accounting, budgeting, or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience with federal grant management and familiarity with OMB Uniform Guidance, accounting principles, and the ability to interface with a large and diverse team of public health staff are essential. Relationship building with effective communication skills. Experience communicating with stakeholders.
