JEA Senior Living Staff Development Coordinator/ Clinical Education - Full-Time 1st Shift in La Mesa, California

Essential Functions: * Evaluate resident and staff needs in collaboration with administrative and department leadership to plan appropriate orientation, in-services, and education necessary to prepare personnel to perform their duties. * Implement the established community orientation program for all personnel assigned which includes but is not limited to community objectives, philosophy of care, community policies and procedures, equipment demonstration, and tours of the building. * Coordinate the nurse aid training needed with schools which includes testing schedules, and registry training requirements in preparation of nursing assistance for the testing. * Interpret and implement establish community policies, procedures, and regulations. * Plans and provides the executive director and director of nursing with the annual schedule of education programs which includes, ongoing general and mandatory Inservice education programs. * Plan, schedule, and post a monthly calendar of education programs in a timely manner. * Maintain current education records of classes conducted, attendance of staff, and the clinical performance of each nursing assistant. * Maintain an education profile for each employee. Maintain a listing of each class attended including the date, required time period fulfilled, and the required evaluation of performance for nursing assistance. * Alert staff of necessary education/in-service hours for compliance with standards. Monitor CPR certifications as directed. * Assist with the employee health exams and immunizations as per the community protocol. * Maintain records for nursing assistants’ current certifications, expiration dates, and other required records. * Prepare lesson plans for continuing objectives, course content, method of instruction, and method of evaluation for each class scheduled and completed. * Supervise classroom and clinical activities of nursing assistants. * Manage the approved education program and submit approval forms as required by the state agency. * Submit, in writing, any program changes to the appropriate Regulatory agency. * Continually assess the education program to assure implementation of the approved program. * Implement education programs on all tours of duty on an ongoing basis, as directed. * Assist with recruitment of assigned staff positions which may include but are not limited to, interviewing with behavioral-based interviewing techniques, obtaining references, drug testing, certifications, and license verifications. * Supervise and evaluate nursing assistants’ conformance to community policies, procedures, and regulations, as directed. * Participate in employee evaluation process by providing attendance records and observation of nursing assistances' performance to the DON. * Observe and teach staff the resident's rights, confidentiality, infection control practices, and safety rules. * Assume quality assurance during and participate in committees as assigned. * Incorporate quality assurance/ quality indicator findings in the education and training of staff and monitor for improvement. * Consistently operate the education department within the budget parameters. * Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents’ representatives, community staff, physicians, consultants, and ancillary services providers. Educate the staff to achieve this as well.
