Edwards Lifesciences Manager, Health Economics and Reimbursement in Irvine, California

​We are seeking a market access expert to help shape and support execution of payer strategy, value-based initiatives, novel reimbursement models and lead cross-functional strategic projects in coordination with Clinical Affairs, Medical Affairs, Global Marketing and US Sales.

​As Manager, Global Health Economics and Reimbursement (GHER) for Critical Care, you will bring significant expertise in the MedTech industry or related fields. You will apply your expert knowledge in reimbursement, health system & payer dynamics and value-based payment models. Ideally, you will have a track record of working with capital equipment or digital solutions portfolios. You will also manage strategic projects with cross-functional input and working with external experts. You will have experience supporting presentations to stakeholders and to senior leaders.

​ The Manager, GHER, Critical Care role is a global position, and will be based at our global headquarters in Irvine, California reporting to the Director, GHER, Critical Care.

​Primary Responsibilities include:

  • ​Support implementation of payer and health system strategies to drive access and use for critical care medical technologies.

  • ​Develop economic tools for use in economic based selling for IDN customers.

  • ​Drive the development of global reimbursement and market access strategies for integration into the Critical Care portfolio in all phases of development.

  • ​​Contribute to the global strategic planning process and strategic projects to drive patient access for Critical Care technologies.

  • ​Support project management of projects with external partners and consultants, to deliver high quality and impactful deliverables within budget and on time.

  • ​Communicate complicated matters in a simple, structured way to internal and external customers.

  • Support Critical Care Leadership Team presentations and meetings.

​Basic Qualifications:

  • ​Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent in in a life sciences, health economics, health policy, or related field, with 10 years of related experience or

  • ​Master's Degree or equivalent in MBA or MPH and 8 years of related experience, including experience gain in top tier healthcare consulting.

  • Experience in health economics and/or outcomes research and reimbursement

  • Expert understanding of medical device industry, especially with functional responsibility in reimbursement planning, program implementation, and health economics and outcomes research.

  • ​ Advanced understanding of key public and private payer policy infrastructure, payment methodologies for medical technologies, coding and coverage, US payer and health systems / IDN dynamics, health policy trends, and current business challenges.

  • Demonstrated success and experience in executing reimbursement and payment strategies.

  • Exceptional project management skills.

  • ​Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially presentation development.

  • ​Ability to balance strategic thinking with intricate planning and strong tactical execution.

  • ​Strong business acumen, analytical skills and experience working with various internal business partners (especially Sales, Marketing, Clinical, Regulatory, Legal, and Government Affairs, Regional and Country staff)

  • Influence management skills and ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization and between competing organizations.

​​Additional Skills:

  • ​Proven track record of leading thought, project management skills that result in desired business and patient impact

  • ​​​Excellent documentation and communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives

  • ​​Expert understanding of key public and private payer policy infrastructure, medical device payment methodologies, coding and coverage basics, and/or health policy trends.

  • ​​Strong problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills

  • ​Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environment

  • ​Strict attention to detail

  • ​Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels and proactively escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in the organization

  • ​Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • ​Represent leadership on projects within a specific area interfacing with team members and peer managers, normally involving matters between cross-functional teams and the company; often lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team

  • ​​​Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
