JOB TITLE: Senior Consultant Business Data Analysis

LOCATION: One Hartford Plaza, Hartford, CT 06155

DUTIES:

Apply functional knowledge and techniques necessary to draw out data and analytics business requirements completely and accurately from stakeholders; Perform requirements planning, monitoring and requirements management; Provide Excel reports, pivots, tables, through Tableau reporting, for Business stakeholders to review and/or consume; independently perform data analysis, data discovery and data profiling using industry standard querying tools to support business requirements development that are complete, clear, unambiguous, well written and appropriate to audience; Perform strong analysis using industry standard querying tools and planning capabilities; Perform business process mapping, data analysis, data testing, data wrangling, data transformation mappings to build data assets; Maintain Data mapping documents, Business Matrix and other Data Design artifacts that define business data requirements and transformation rules; Perform and aid functional testing; write User Acceptance Criteria, perform User Acceptance Testing through SQL queries, moderate to complex table joins, and detailed data analysis to provide a clear picture of the data and any discrepancies between multiple systems and lines of business, to Business Stakeholders; work with Data Warehousing, Data Marts function, data flow and data extracted from these repositories including Hadoop and Cloud platforms; Act as liaison and advisor/consultant between the business and IT stakeholders; Structure and drive working and informational sessions that promote collaboration, synergy, and achieve desired outcomes; understand the scope of the project and help resolve scope questions and issues related to own work; Handle moderate level root cause analysis of business data issues and provide technical data guidance on issues; Create logical and physical data model using tool such as Erwin for data consumption; Provide domain knowledge/expertise (Commercial Lines Insurance) to the project team.

REQUIREMENTS:

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field plus six (6) years of experience in the job offered or in a related position. Experience must include the following: Demonstrable experience writing complex SQL queries through tools such as TOAD; Demonstrable experience with data analysis using TOAD, Excel, Tableau systems; Demonstrable experience with using Big Data capabilities and tools such as Hadoop, Pyspark, Talend; Demonstrable experience with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Visio, Powerpoint, etc.); Demonstrable experience with Rally and Quality Center for work and defect monitoring and tracking; Demonstrable experience with analysis, industry standard querying tools and planning capabilities; Demonstrable experience working in a Scrum/SAFe model.
