Dauphin County Director of Budget in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Please go to to apply for this role. Description Dauphin County's Budget and Finance Office is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Director of Budget. The overall objective of the individual in this position is to oversee the County's Budget and Finance Office; prepare the annual budgets along with the associated reporting requirements; and other general accounting functions including fixed assets; debt obligations; County investments; and banking relationships. He/she is also responsible for, but not limited to, performing the following essential functions: prepares the fiscal and calendar year budgets and monitors these for compliance; analyzes financial data for compliance/efficiency; reviews financial data with department heads and assists them with financial/technical questions; researches data to provide assistance to Commissioners and staff in relation to financial decision-making and special projects; prepares and submits various state-mandated reports; develops periodic statistical, financial, and cash-flow reports as needed; administers and monitors various County funds and processes invoices for the same; monitors the County's allocated positions; assists in the completion of audit data; works with legal counsel in resolving debt issues; maintains the role as primary contact for most of the County's banking relationships; interacts with both internal and external County agencies, elected officials, fiscal personnel and others as required; operates a computer and statistical software as necessary to perform these essential duties; and performs all other duties as assigned. Salary is negotiable based on experience. Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements Bachelors degree in accounting and working knowledge of automated accounting systems and person computer spreadsheet software required, or any combination of acceptable experience and training. Five or more years of progressive experience in performing accounting and budget preparation procedures, including two to three years working experience in a government entity. Other Requirements *Attends meetings, in-services and training as required. *Performs all other job duties as required.
