Modine Grenada LLC OEM Precision Grinder II / Grenada in Grenada, Mississippi

This position is for an OEM Precision Grinder II with a company located in Grenada, MS. Summary: Received instruction and direction from Lead Person, Group Leader, Engineers and Tool and Die Supervisor. Sets up and operates variety of grinding machines, such as machine parts, dies, or tools, according to knowledge of grinding procedures. Overtime is generally optional, however, mandatory overtime is required (i.e.>8 hours daily and/or >40 hour work weeks. Duties and Responsibilities Include: Studies blueprints or layout on workpiece to visualize grinding to be done, and plans sequence of operations. Selects grinding wheel, applying knowledge of abrasives and metal properties, and secures it on spindle, using wrench. Dresses wheel with dressing devise and/or optics. Lifts workpiece manually or with hoist, and positions and secures workpiece to holding devise, using wrenches and clamps. Programs feed rates, grinding speed, depth of cuts, and selects grinding wheel of size, shape and grade for each operation, applying knowledge of metal properties, abrasive, product specification, and shop mathematics. Positions and tightens stops to limit travel of workpieces of grinding wheel. Moves controls to position wheel and workpiece in relation to each other, and to set feed, speed and depth of cut. Starts machine, turns hand wheel to feed grinding wheel to workpiece or vice versa, and engages power feeding devise. Turns valve handle and directs flow of coolant against wheel and work piece. Observes operation and adjusts position and action of wheel and workpiece. Requirements and Qualifications Include: High school education or GED. Between 4 and 6 years of trade school, vocation education, work experience, or apprenticeship. Required to have specialized experience with particular materials, product, or precision level or with machine of particular size, type, or trade name. Verifies dimensions of ground workpieces for conformance of specifications, using measuring instruments, such as templates, micrometer, dial indicators, and gauge blocks. Normally works to tolerances of plus of minus 0.0005 inch or less. Inspects parts for burrs, sharp edges on non-working surfaces and measures parts for conformance to blueprint. Assumes complete responsibility for quality of all work performed. Dresses grinding wheels to complex profiles, using optics, special fixtures and tools. House keep duties.
