Raytheon Technologies RF Design Subject Matter Expert - EWS - (On-Site) in Goleta, California
The Raytheon Electronic Warfare - Hardware Engineering Department in Goleta, California is seeking an RF Design Engineer to join our hardware design team in our Goleta, California offices. This subject matter expert (SME) will act as a Lead engineer for RF Design in the Electronics Warfare Systems (EWS) Self Protect Systems/Integrated Electronic Warfare Systems (SPS/IEWS) Hardware Department. The department specializes in the design, integration, verification, and production of RF / Microwave subsystems for airborne platforms. The candidate will be responsible for design and development of Electronic Warfare & Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) products & Electronic Warfare subsystems derived from system level requirements. They will develop associated EW Electronic Support and Electronic Attack architectures, perform electrical design and analysis, implement design solutions, perform and guide simulations and modeling of EW subsystems. They will support the performance, testing, and data/effectiveness evaluations of associated hardware in a laboratory or chamber setting. He/she will generate subsystem requirements documents and specifications. He/she will become familiar with the latest technology trends in the area of Electronic Warfare systems. The candidate will work in the product development team environment with system and software engineers. This position may require occasional business related travel. Responsibilities:
Oversee programs in multiple geographic regions simultaneously: Goleta, CA, McKinney, TX, Fort Wayne, IN, Forrest, MS.
Support test events at locations throughout the US. Frequently support customer meetings at locations throughout the US.
Work with members of the senior management team to support or implement the organization’s business strategies.
Guide the development of major new products, process, or systems standards in support of long-term business strategies.
As a subject matter expert (SME), and in leading 12 matrix reports, this employee will influence broader engineering teams in adopting efficient approaches by creating and providing a clear vision and path to completion.
The selected candidate will participate in negotiating specifications and will shape customer opinions through design reviews and quarterly customer briefings on multiple programs.
As a principal investigator (PI), the selected candidate will collaborate with other SME and engineering fellows on highly technically challenging programs to implement cutting edge designs.
The selected candidate will contribute to successful demonstrations to a variety of highly technical customers within the DoD and acquisition communities (Military Branches, DARPA, etc). Demonstrations can occur at on-site labs and off-site facilities.
The selected candidate will function as the Hardware Lead for multiple EWS efforts with third party content. In that role, this employee will be the main point of contact and liaison between the vendors and Raytheon. Responsibilities for requirements management and schedules between both.
Minimum of 12 years of experience in RF design engineering or 10 years with a related Master's degree
Minimum of 8 years of experience in systems architectural designs as a system architect
Highly experienced in providing broad oversight to multiple programs simultaneously.
Broad based RF / Microwave engineering experience, spanning design, production, and support phases of DoD programs, including the design, development and simulation of RF / Microwave electronic sub-systems.
Experience with EW technology and Radar systems, including leading cross-functional design teams and leading technical design reviews with internal and external customers.
Demonstrated technical communication: Experience with system/sub-system level block diagrams, technical writing, and generating technical proposals and design review packages for complex electronics.
Hands-on experience in supporting and/or performing testing and qualification for military applications
Experience using and specifying the use of high-speed oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, waveform generators, and debugging tools.
Minimum 4 years of experience with design tools such as ADS, Genesys, HFSS, FEKO and MATLAB
Possess skills to handle fast pace and dynamic product development environment
Strong team player with good interpersonal skills as well as excellent written/verbal communication skills
Experience with Digital Design / Analog design.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need to obtain an active U.S. Security Clearance.
This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons.
Experience developing BOEs for proposals and providing proposal technical volume leadership
Familiarity with Pro-Engineer/CREO or similar modeling tools
Familiarity with Parts Management and Materials and Process Engineering
Knowledge of CMMI, IPDS and 6 sigma process
COTS / MOTS Design and Development
Experience as an IPT or CPT Lead
Required Education (including Major):
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
M.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
MBA or Masters in Engineering Management
