Position title: Collections Team Lead

Location: Freeport, IL

Reports to: Manager, Credit Risk & Collections

Looking for a number-oriented individual who thrives on problem resolution. Can work both independently and in a team environment. The Credit Collections Team Lead’s primarily responsibility is business to business collections and analyzing, monitoring, and reporting on customer’s payment trends. Leading a small team to assist in full invoice dispute resolution. Communicating with Sales Contacts, Finance Team, and the Business Units with appropriate status updates.

Job responsibilities

  • Responsible for the collection of receivables through courteous communications, and ability to review customers’ AP websites

  • Use analytic skills and negotiating techniques to build and maintain company and customer relationships by establishing excellent relationships with customers to ensure future payment compliance

  • Be assertive yet sensitive using communication techniques in dealing with delinquent customers

  • The ability to critically review, analyze and problem solve customer credit collection and billing issues as they arise and work through a solution and/or present options

  • Oversee daily collection contacts and proactively monitor outstanding account receivables in accordance with the company’s collection process

  • Prepare reports detailing collection efforts, monthly and quarterly including: updates, follow-up actions, problem accounts, statistical analysis for the Executive Finance Team

  • Follow through on “action items” and various projects assigned by direct manager

  • Actively monitor and document customers whose aging becomes severe

  • Minimize DSO and ADD balances by practicing collection policies and trend analysis on driving factors impacting the balances

  • Capable of being entrusted with “confidential” information

  • Lead a Team to work with Customers, Sales, and Business Units in order to research and resolve full invoice disputed items

  • Assist in leading their team to follow internal processes to document, archive, and assist in delinquent accounts sent to a collection agency or which has filed bankruptcy status

  • Other duties as required

Job Requirements

  • Ability to lead, build and motivate accounts receivable team per company policies and procedures

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred - in Finance or Accounting preferred

  • A minimum of 2 years Credit and/or Collections experience preferred

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply accounting principles and procedures

  • Ability to work under pressure and perform tasks as required


  • Proficient in excel

  • SAP experience a plus

  • Must have a proactive, positive attitude and be comfortable working in a fast paced, growth-oriented environment

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage tasks simultaneously

  • Excellent teamwork skills and capable of working independently

  • Strong ability to negotiate and resolve issues/problems

  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly organized, you are incredibly detail oriented and have excellent problem solving and planning skills

Work Location:

  • Temporarily remote with the objective to transition into the office by end of summer

Schedule :

  • Monday to Friday

  • Day shift

  • 8-hour shift

  • Salary Position in which additional hours may be needed to complete duties
