New Student Programs Coordinator for Fort Worth, Waco, Midlothian
Advances enrollment goals for the university by crafting and delivering programming for incoming students at Tarleton’s satellite campuses. This position is based in Fort Worth, serves as a welcoming host at the Fort Worth Campus, and organizes a team of student mentors. Leads efforts to expand prospective student initiatives at Fort Worth, Waco, and Midlothian campuses while assisting the department with Stephenville campus transition programs as necessary. Reports to the Director of New Student Programs.
25% Organize and deliver departmental programming for the Fort Worth Campus. Under direction, curate audience-appropriate offerings for prospective students, incoming students, and their families.
20% Establish consistent, friendly presence for visitors of the Fort Worth Campus. Apart from event days, lead the charge to establish norms so that community members and prospective students feel welcome in our building(s) and leave with a positive first impression of Tarleton State University.
20% Recruit, develop, and empower student staff. Help meet departmental goals by managing a continuously improving framework for student leadership opportunities. Maximize volunteer contributions by supervising a team of students that serve as ambassadors and mentors for Tarleton and its Fort Worth campus.
15% Organize and deliver departmental programming for the Waco Campus. Under direction, curate audience-appropriate offerings for prospective students, incoming students, and their families.
10% Organize and deliver departmental programming for the Midlothian Campus. Under direction, curate audience-appropriate offerings for prospective students, incoming students, and their families.
10% Performs other duties as assigned. This will include, but is not limited to, supporting New Student Programs for freshmen and transfer students at Tarleton
main Stephenville campus.
Education and Experience:
Two years’ experience working in a college setting or equivalent experience with any combination of event planning, mentoring, project management, and/or working with adult learners
Two years’ experience working specifically with transfer student transition programming
Two years’ experience working specifically with non-traditional college populations
Experience attracting and leading a volunteer staff
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Hold non-traditional office hours to mirror traffic patterns of the Fort Worth campus. The base hours for this position will be 10am-7pm Monday through Friday and may change seasonally at the discretion of the Director
Willingness to travel to Waco, Midlothian, and Stephenville as necessary to meet the needs of those populations
Willingness to work modified hours and/or work on weekends as dictated by program offerings and other responsibilities
Ability to autonomously problem-solve and hold oneself accountable to tasks at hand without onsite supervision
Commensurate with experience
