The Alberta Motor Association (AMA) is on the lookout for a Digital Design Lead to guide our Digital Design Team. You will be guiding a team of skilled designers as part of a larger team that includes copywriters, marketers, developers, analysts, SEO specialists, and executive stakeholders. You will be responsible for contributing to and ensuring the successful conceptualization and design of all visual website, app and other visual assets required to deliver an impactful digital member experience. You are considered an expert in user experience best practices, usability heuristics, accessibility, industry trends and the competitive landscape. You consider yourself individualistic in thought and approach but able to find innovative ways to collaborate for cohesive and big picture solutions

Your primary responsibilities include creating user-focused designs informed by market analysis, customer feedback and requirements, and user research analytics to ensure successful large digital projects and visual marketing assets required to deliver an impactful digital member experience.

This role is an 18-month temporary role

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Report to the Manager, Digital Member Experience

  • Collaborate with the Manager, Digital Member Experience to define and prioritize Marketing and Digital Member Experience projects

  • Participate in the strategic planning of marketing campaigns/projects.

  • Partner with Business Leaders to achieve strategic goals and business objectives.

  • Lead the design of digital creative including but not limited to, web layouts, email layouts, templates, graphic elements, and lead generation funnels.

  • Oversee digital web and app design backlog and roadmap.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and business leaders to discover, capture, and assess design requirements.

  • Develop and deliver high level and detailed storyboards, concept diagrams, user interface sketches and mockups, prototypes, and detailed design specifications.

  • Champion the function of UX/UI design through modeling and coaching

  • Solve complex problems in a highly creative, user-centric way through an iterative process of experimentation and attention to detail.

  • Follow UX best practices, usability heuristics, and AMA brand guidelines.

  • Adhere to AMA Brand guidelines.

  • Plans, coordinates, and maintains relationships with external agencies and contractors.

  • Maintain the AMA Digital Brand guidelines and ensures they are accurately represented across all digital marketing assets.

  • Utilize photography library including Agent/Advisor/Instructor photos and imagery used across Marketing assets.

  • Identifies training requirements and makes learning training requirements to the Manager as required.

  • Collaborate with optimization specialists to develop optimal sales funnels.

  • Work closely with the Creative Team and IT Design team to develop and maintain the AMA digital brand and deliver a consistent digital member experience

  • Have a solid understanding of web usability and the importance of the user experience (UX).

WHAT YOU'VE DONE

  • A university degree in a related field such as UX Design, Digital Graphic Design or Visual Communications.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in lead designer role or previous senior designer experience.

  • Must be an expert in prototyping tools such as Figma, XD, as well as Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Working knowledge of CMS and HTML/CSS technical skills

  • Strong portfolio showcasing knowledge of UX and visual design principles and techniques.

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience would be considered an asset.

  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines and juggle several large projects simultaneously.

  • Strong knowledge of technical (backend) constraints and implementation.

  • Strong communication and proficient presentation skills.
