Horace Mann Educational Associates Speech and Language Pathologist/Communication Consultant in Cranston, Rhode Island
Tech Access Rhode Island a program of HMEA is seeking a per diem Augmentative and Alternative Communication Consultant and Speech-Language Pathologist needed to provide direct Speech Therapy services and AAC consultation/evaluation services
Essential Functions:
Provides Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) assessments and AAC device needs. May also support funding initiatives.
Provide direct Speech-Language services to individuals with Augmentative and Alternative communication systems. Must have:
Working knowledge of iOS communication apps: Proloquo2Go, TouchChat, GoTalk Now, and LAMP Words for Life
Familiarity with dedicated communication devices from TobiiDynavox, Prentke Romich, and Saltillo
Experience with alternative access methods including switch access and eye tracking
Use knowledge of AAC to make recommendations.
Provides training of AAC usage to families, teachers, staff members and other therapists.
Completes evaluations, contact notes, and all written documentation in a timely manner. Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
Receives and reviews referrals in accordance with established program procedures.
Maintains confidentiality following HIPAA guidelines.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) accredited university.
Clinical Certificate of Competency from ASHA.
Experience with evaluating and training with families and individuals with complex communication needs to use AAC.
RI License.
Expected start date is March 2021 through July/early August. 5-10 hours per week, with a potential for more hours.
Salary commensurate with experience; $40-$45/hour.
